Its free
I’ve always parked on the street in the neighborhood across Scott Street. No traffic. Easy in and definitely easy out, going via Alabama either to South Freeway or entrance to Southwest Freeway. Oh, and I have always had a Green Lot parking pass, which I will likely sell this year.
Execution has always been a problem at TDECU from speakers sounding clearer at the library than in the stadium, wifi disasters, to screwing up ticket lines. Concessions have been better at the local pool snack bar.
Talk has been plentiful at TDECU. Performance has been scarce.
What part’s free?
Parking and the train ride to and from the stadium. I usually park at palm center since I live down I45 south.
The drive part isn’t, but minimal.
Don’t know what the Palm Center is, and did not see any references to it on the UH parking map. Also did not see the reference for the free part of the train. Though normal is like $1.25 for a ride.
If it was convenient, I would consider the train, but it never seems all that convenient to me. I hope the city expands the lines someday out to the Galleria area.
Yea, why does everyone bunch up on Scott/Calhoun/Cullen going to 45? Go south to Mcgregor to get to 288 is faster, or through the neighborhoods through Elgin or Alabama. You guys scared to drive through the third ward or something?
We did the Palm Center train ride deal a couple of years ago. It worked well. My only concern was observing 2 different parking spaces with broken window glass on the ground. That was a bit unnerving. Ours was a day game but I wondered how I would feel about returning from a game at 10 pm. If anyone has comments about this I’d like to hear them.
You can park at any of the parking lots that service tune train. Then take the train in grin there. Then you don’t have to fight the traffic getting out of UH after the game. With 40k its going to be a madhouse.
Is there a map that shows where those lots are? I drive in on gamedays from the RGV so I lack the knowledge you city dwellers accumulate.
Have you parked downtown between Minute Maid and Shell stadium? Is that still an option? It’s been a few years since I used the train.
I have been parking there for football and basketball games since the stadium opened with no issues.
That being said. Do not leave any valuables in the car, that are visible or you are asking for it. This is Houston and that type of crime is rampant.
That is a good link. Why is it not accessible anywhere I can find? or more importantly where people coming to a game the first time can see it. I did not see an obvious link on either the UH parking site or the Metro rail page.
I think that will be an issue as well for people that want to go to a game, but don’t know about this link from 2016.
NorthLine Transit Center
Griggs Road Transit Center
Maps here are fine.
Is there a place you are finding the rail link or is it something you have bookmarked?
Metro will show you all the transit centers. The UH site I posted shows the recommended ones. I use palm center. Fannin South is a long haul to the stadium because you have to go downtown first then go out to UH. Griggs is just a few miles up 610, take mlk exit then right on griggs it will be on the right.
