Secret Scrimmages

Negative

It’s a secret!

Not so much.

Everyone got so giggly because we beat Texas and Duke in exhibitions but frankly it means absolutely nothing in real time.
All I care about is how we are playing in March

I will say though Sampson said we killed Texas in the 2022 scrimmage. Dominant he said.

Concerns are there regardless of the outcome.

TCU beat Alabama 85-81.

Elaborate.

I wonder if it’s the same as mine.

Woulda loved if coach would of brought in another skilled and veteran big.

But in coach i trust. Have no choice but to. Lol

Pretty much what we discussed all off-season. The bigs. And there are some other concerns about defense and rebounding. Being too small.

I don’t have concerns with our three rotation bigs. If we have to go beyond them for significant minutes then maybe.

I would imagine that these games are about as accurate a predictor of regular season success as NFL pre-season games are.

That is to say
.they’re NOT!!!

Anyway, if the final score was leaked and publicized, as it apparently was
.then so much for super secrecy!!!

Well so far the last few years we’ve had these, I don’t believe we’ve lost a “secret scrimmage” game yet. So I think the competitive side of coach takes them seriously, though he may not admit so. But they’ve also been a good indicator of how the year will go :sunglasses:

Saw the Kansas game and they lost to illnois and definitely are not a #1 team. Hunter Dickinson is a big name and big guy but he is a hot and cold player. Missed lots of shots and does not play hard like Sampson would like a player to be, Kansas was a better team last year but generally may have decent talent this year. Them losing Wilson and the tall blonde freshman from last year were there catalyst. Lot’s of parity this year and the season has not even started

Kansas always starts slow but by the end of the year they will be among the best

Maybe Illinois is a #1 team.

Just kidding!

If we’re worried about secret scrimmages and exhibition games, you’re going to a bunch of wrecks throughout the Big XII season. BTW, St. John’s lost to Pace, a Division 2 school, at home. As for exhibitions and scrimmage games and their importance, it varies from school to school just like the pros. The 2008 Detroit Lions went 4-0 in preseason, 0-16 in the regular season.

It’s March that counts. #1 rankings during the regular season are good for bragging rights but don’t mean anything once the tournament starts. We’re going to hit some bumps, but if we can make the tournament as a seeded team, hopefully a #1 or #2, I’ll be happy once it really matters.

Especially, doesn’t mean squat when the tourney committee places Bama and Auburn in your bracket in BIRMINGHAM, ALABAMA!!!
