Have you played basketball? I have sir and there are plenty of things you can do regarding FTs. For instance we were not allowed to leave practice until everyone made 5 Fts in a row. You can believe me or not, but it did improve our team shooting percentage. There are also shooting coaches all over this beautiful planet that can be hired.
Idk what Sampson does and I do agree it is on the individual, however if this trend of leaving points on the board or Sampson bleeding the clock late continues, then don’t be surprised if we continue to lose to teams of this caliber with the same issues showing up in every loss. We can play the blame game all day about what caused the loss. That’s 90% of the debates after losses in ALL of our sports. Are you new here? Just because you don’t agree with my take, doesn’t mean I need to get a grip.
Regarding Polladtunnelvision…I couldn’t care less if you want to side with him. The dude is a self proclaimed know it all that constantly shows he has the education of a baked potato. He didn’t come off of Cullen with a degree and it shows. That’s enough to make me laugh every time I see him post. A real life loser. Sit next to him and hold his hand if you want. I’ll still be here…posting and speaking my mind. I’m not worried about ad populum. You,him, and whoever else don’t run anything on Coogfans!

A 10-4 record in the tournament, a Sweet 16, Final Four and Elite Eight in the last three trips? Ummm…I think I’ll take my chances that Sampson knows what he’s doing.
Exactly. The level of basketball ignorance on this board is hysterical. Of course there are areas we need to improve, all teams do. It’s really humorous to read that “we’re not as good as we were last year”, comparing a team in December with 4 different starters to a team in late-March

Minus Baylor. How did we lose in the Elite 8 and the Sweet 16? Was it due to anything we saw during the regular season? How about yesterday?
You gotta know the answer to this question. Please know the answer. I’m begging you.
Fact remains, this is still a well coached team. I never said Sampson doesn’t know what he’s doing. Fact remains, he still has his flaws, else we’d have hoisted a title every year he’s coached. Nobody is perfect. We’re allowed to post what we think the issue is.
Debate is about what causes us to lose these type of games. We can debate like adults or you can devolve the conversation to name calling and “you’re not the coach, you can’t do better, so you can’t talk” nonsense. Up to you.
How did we lose in the sweet 16 to Kentucky? Would love to hear your thoughts.

IIRC they had a big that could pass out of a double and spot up shooters that could burn us. They did and definitely when it mattered most late in the game.

Now tell me how we lost in the elite 8 to Nova. Then go back and tell me how we lose 99% of our games since Sampson’s been here.
I believe that Sampsons teams play extremely hard and physical basketball defensively and on the boards and it wears them down in these tough games and free throw shooting is affected negatively. This years team is not as dominant rebounding as teams past so I believe we need to find ways to get more easy buckets perhaps in transition and more open looks in the half court offensively.
It is college basketball, no team is perfect. Tge season is about finding out your imperfections and improve on them.
Sampson’s teams are always better in March when it matters.
Sasser is going to be better.
Both Francis are going to be WAY better.
Shead and Roberts are playing to their max potential. But that is about it. Everyone else will be better.

Yes. I noticed multiple half court sets the ball swung around the perimeter with little interior movement. Virginia is going to be another test of our offensive output. If we can’t shoot well that night then we need to get the half court offense going for easier looks near the basket.

Do you think that was due to exploiting the double? A late rotation? Reminds of the late 3 by Bama last night.
