Kudo’s to Major and UH staff, for what looks like a solid recruiting effort so far.
10 commits before 11-26-16 (stayed after TH left)
6 Offense, 4 Defense
9 de-commits after 11-26-16
3 offense, 6 defense
6 new commits after 11-26-16
2 Offense, 3 Defense, 1 Kicker
6 spots left open, waiting on lots of offers to
great players
Looks to be a win for this new coaching staff.
Go Coogs.
Worried about Cosmi and Stiner now. Cosmi received an offer from UT tonight while Stiner got an offer from Florida.
Stiner and Duke are close so hopefully that will override the new offer. This isn’t his first P5 offer, he’s gotten offers from Mizzou, OK State, and Baylor, but he is visiting Gainesville this weekend.
Cosmi - ??? Personally, I’d feel a little upset that it took this long to offer, but you never know how these kids will feel, if they like their new coaches, or if they were told something awhile back. He’s visiting Austin this weekend.
Here is a rumor, bardwell is good friends with Cosmi and is one of us. Will that help keep Cosmi Red?
If cosmi visits he’s gone. The big 12 natrrative Tom was selling while at UH plays well at aUT. Tom is a total scumbag.
Let the cards fall where they may. Like we have always said Houston is Houston. We can win our conference again with our players.
What’s the over/under on Cosmi decommitting? I’m most certain he’s one foot out of his commitment to Houston.
Well we have a lot of players on the Of this final weekend we need to hang onto Cosmi & land the OG from Florida who is here this weekend. Most of the others are on the defensive side of the ball.
I remember the week that the South Carolina mess blew up. It ended with UH losing to UCONN and everyone wanted to attribute that to Ward’s being injured.
I used to live in Columbia, SC and still have several friends there who were very close to the SC athletic program. Two had called me earlier to actually apologize for stealing our young coach. Of course Herman denied he had any contact with SC, and this was true technically. It was his agent doing the talking. Until, that is, crunch time arrived and SC wanted Tom’s physical presence. It was by that time a done deal. Until, that is, Uncle Tilman got out his check book.
The SC people were in total shock when Herman backed out of what was essentially a done deal.
But lost in all of this was what I called Sumlin redux. Herman completely turned his back on UH in the midst of all of this. Just as he did before our Memphis game while he was searching for his “dream job”. No way does the team that destroyed Louisville lose to Memphis.
This time at least, I was prepared. I had decided last year that Herman was just pretending - putting on a show and going through the motions. When I had tried to soft sell that last year I caught all kinds of flack, so I just kept my mouth shut.
By the same token, I read Major as at least not being driven by arrogance. He may well move on at some point, but I trust he will show so some character in doing so. Unlike Sumlin and Herman.
And I think Major’s character will come through during recruiting. While Herman was all flash, Major exudes honesty and sincerity. Plus he has a track record to back it up. Smart recruits will see this. The others we don’t need.
This is where local HS Coaches should help us “seal” some deals. Major has great ties to local Coaches. I keep writing about it but this is the time to make a statement from these same Coaches. We need TRUE HELP. Will that come? Imo this is the biggest crossword that we face in years.
The fact that Mr. Tilman took the decision to take out his checkbook is his alone. His decision can be debated for weeks. For arguments sake what if Tilman had decided to not take out his checkbook? How would have ctwitchingherman been viewed by the general public? Are we better off after his fly by? The debate can go on and on.
Will Herman be distracted at UT by Ohio State or the NFL at some point?
Hope CMA can keep this very solid class together and has picked some future stars among the recent offers.
By my count 8 of our commits received offers from power 5 programs since Herman left. Five have since changed their commitment and two have official visits with power 5 schools this weekend. Hopefully we can hold onto them otherwise, it’s not matter of our staff doing a good job keeping recruits or being a “band of brothers”, it’s just a matter of recruits getting offers to begin with.
