Texas will lend the $$$ to OU and bolt to the SEC rather than play us…
Just watch…
… and/or OU can borrow what they need from the SEC & repay it with reduced future SEC payouts. Schools joining other conferences have done this.
UT & OU want to join the SEC as badly as we want to join the B12 — So the possibility of them leaving the B12 on 30June23 and us joining on 1July23 is still on the table, IMO — That said, a full year’s notice is usually the minimum so we should know by July 1st this year if we may be playing them in '23.
…they will do anything !
I could see that happening since there would be nothing more embarrassing to UT than getting beat by a team one year removed from being a G5.
They rather get beat by Vanderbilt.
What about three teams that are one year removed from the G5?
We used to blame UT for the Big 12’s problems, but now that they are leaving along with Oklahoma and the SEC wants them; I think there must be something else going on. Nebraska I get because I saw that outrageous end of game. But Arkansas, Missouri, Colorado, and aTm all leaving points to something else. What is it?
In my view, it was UT itself; it’s prima donna status as a larger than life blue blood, its Longhorn Network, and its desire to run the show over everyone else’s wishes.
Everyone that fled…fled to ESCAPE that.
Sadly…aTm and Arky just couldn’t get away.
Now that UT is gone…no one else will be bolting.
If we play t.u. again, cool.
If we never play t.u. again, also cool.
I really don’t care about them all that much. (Although I will enjoy watching them get trashed in the SEC…)
Yep, horns down in the SEC…
I put the chances of being in the Big 12 with OU UT at zero. No way we move up before they move out.
There are teams with way more history then us against UT, like A&M, Rice, TCU, SMU, TT and OU, none of them has beaten UT like a drum except HOUSTON. They think they are so much better than us and should never lose to us. They will do anything to avoid us, even if it means getting smashed in the SEC.
I am pretty sure that some accommodations will be made in the buyout, whether it be paid out over a period of years or some other type of loan to be paid out over a period of years such as reduced payments from the SEC for a few years.
As long as some of that $90million UT cash gets spread to the newbees.
We will take it!
Don’t hold your breath on that.
You can forget that…OU doesnt have the money or resources to leave early and if they dont, Texas isnt leaving either…Texas and OU will play with new schools and the new Big 12 will have 14 for 2 years before they leave in summer 2025.
The question has never been will they leave early, because they cant…The question is WHO do they play in the 2 years all the newbies are in the league in 23 and 24…
You’re 100% spot on……but that “prestige” has left the building……I think they themselves are the only ones that still consider them to be in rarified air….
As an Iowa State fan, I had my fill of UT and OU. Screw em. I hope the Big 12 schedules UT at Houston and schedules all the new additions with home games against OUT.
Frankly, I would LOVE see UH schedule Arkansas and LSU in basketball and football. I don’t give a flip if UH ever plays the cows again.
UT has ONE championship in the last 51 years.
They need a hard reality check on how good they really are vs how good they think they are .
Players go there to be coddled within their own ego- they aren’t getting the junk yard dog pieces willing to support their star nucleus. Yes you need 5 star players - but unmotivated 5 star players unwilling to put in the work to get to the next level.
Thats why I’m not worried about NIL AT ALL from a talent distribution. It just identifies those that are trying to cash in NOW instead of working abd developing themselves for the next level.
Plus, it doesn’t increae the talent pool or the synergy. UT already gets top 5 recruitung classes- making it translate on the field is a totally different issue.
True. LSU has been on the (football) schedule in the past and we’ve played plenty in BB, our track programs have some heated competition going but why haven’t we played Arkansas in all this time? At least I don’t recall playing them.
