Quentin Grimes

Yup. 22/2/2 and tough defense.
He and Brunson all over the Chicago guards tonight. Blew them out.
Grimes getting good is getting Barrett easier shots.

Grimes taking the next step starts Nov 20th with nightly big minutes.

"the red-hot Knicks tore apart the Bulls over the final three quarters, cruising to their seventh win in nine road games. Jalen Brunson set a career-high with six 3-pointers and Quentin Grimes continued his ascension with his second 20-point game of the season. "

Could Grimes break the 50-year drought? Damn. That really would be something monumental and would make him a legend in the Big Apple.

I just love his 3 point stroke. From his feet to his fingertips. It’s so consistent and quick. The moment his toes hit the floor he is ready to spring through them and flick that wrist.

And his release is at like 9 feet. I’ve tried to mimick that style — it is really hard.

Grimes is UH’s poster child on how CKS can take your game, both mentally and physically, to the next level.

Very proud that Grimes is doing so well in the NBA. He has worked hard to get to this point.

Rockets are seriously shooting guard rich.

What we need are 5’s and 1’s.

Honestly I feel bad for Gordon. The guy has had a great second act as a 6th man, but he is stuck on a team that is not trying to win. I know he is making a boat load of money, but he deserves better.

Hopefully he gets on the Celtics, Sixers, Bucks, Suns, Pelicans or someone who has a chance to win (not the Mavs!!).

He had a lot of shots at it with the Rockets
 But yeah
We need to trade him to a contender for something that helps us next year

Apparently, he doesn’t complain about it or try to force his way out it seems

Word on the street is that Harden may return.

I would love a starting 5 of Harden, Green, Smith, Sengun and Wenbanyama.

This has happened before: OKC got lucky 4 straight years (Durant, Westbrook, Ibaka and Harden, plus Collison) and had a team on the verge of a title before Sam Presti made the dumbest trade in NBA history.

I know, a man can dream.

Q sprained his ankle and didn’t play — knicks lost.

Harden is still putting up decent stats but I wouldn’t want him on the team unless he signs a short term contract on the cheap.

Honestly, I would prefer Houston sign a young up and coming player if they plan to invest serious money in a player. Harden is past his prime, not to mention they still don’t have the pieces and maturity to win it all. And if that’s the case, what’s the point in signing Harden? Do they really want to handcuff themselves to a player that won’t bring a championship to Houston?

Harden does nothing but inhibit Green’s development. Green needs proper coaching and I’m not sure he’s getting it from Silas. I was hoping to see a bigger leap with him this year but his +/- ratio is ranked 65th out of 75 guards in the league.

Granted he turns 21 in February, but he is not going to get better with Harden running the point for Houston. Also, Harden is locked in next year for $36mm. I wouldn’t be opposed to him signing a veteran mid-level for his age 35 season in 2024, but why would he do that if he is still missing a ring. I don’t see the 76ers beating Boston or Milwaukee this year. Harden will keep chasing for a ring like most vets do past their prime whilst playing a much lesser role. Now, if you suggest we’re in a position to start signing or trading for veterans in 2024, then Harden could be a good fit for a run.

I’m not convinced Silas is the guy to lead this young core. I keep seeing comments in this thread that he was the better choice over Christopher in the draft. That is so near-sighted and not taking into account Christopher’s situation as a player on a team that is more interested in showcasing Green and Smith over him and Eason. Hell, I’ve seen Sengun get limited minutes at times. Christopher is ultra talented, but isn’t being properly utilized on a team full of 20 year olds. That is on Silas. If this team had any clue what ball movement was, then the kids would be further along by now.

I don’t disagree with much of what you said. I will say that in defense of Silas, keep in mind that this team is not trying to win. They are trying to get draft picks to either develop or sign and trade for a superstar. This is not to suggest that I think we should keep Silas. My personal opinion is that Silas is probably gone year after next, and we end up with Udokah as HC.

As for the Harden thing, I read that this is a possibility because Harden’s deal has a player option so he can leave. I also think Harden is at that age where he is not interested in carrying the entire load. If you see how he is playing in Philly, he is playing pure PG on that team, and leading the league in assists. He just had a triple double (again) tonight with 21 pts, 21 assists and 11 rebounds!!

Green is not a PG and will never be one; he is just smallish so people put him there. Harden, a man with a high basketball IQ, would do wonders for him. More importantly, he would do wonders for Smith, and Sengun.

Fair points on Harden’s PG abilities, but what would make Harden opt out of $36mm guaranteed when he won’t get that on the open market? Also, why would he leave Philly for Houston who will not be a contender for 2-3 more years.

I can totally see him tagging along with a team that is conference finals contender and are missing a good PG like Dallas or Memphis.

That is the $40M question.

Like I said, I read it on ESPN. I agree it seems unlikely; however, if it were to happen, I think it would be a net positive for the team.

As my mother would say - we’ll see.

“This won’t just be Quentin Grimes’ first Christmas Day game as a Knicks starter. It also will be his first chance to go head-to-head against James Harden, who helped him years ago while he was growing up in Houston.

“Harden, then with the Rockets, showed an interest in Grimes while he was in high school. Harden helped steer Grimes to the University of Houston after he transferred following his freshman year at Kansas
