Patrick Paul

Looks like we could have another first rounder this year.

ESPN with an early mock.

Happy to see him taken that high but sad to see him go. He’ll be hard to replace for sure.

I think the Patriots, Jets or Giants should draft him. All three of those teams have terrible O-lines. Paul will be hard to replace next season. We’ll definitely feels his absence. He’s been phenomenal. Go Coogs.

What I dont understand is why we dont run the ball towards Paul’s side more often.

Because our OLs don’t learn how to run block until the NFL. They show up and the NFL coaches are like “why didn’t they teach you this in college? Your team would have had run for more yards and won more games if they taught you this.”

UH needs to go find a run block assist coach to help Naghavi if that’s the case if he can’t teach it, or maybe it just takes time for an OL to jell to effectively run block. We need to get that corrected asap. Navy and Army can run block effectively , we can do it. Vince Lombardi said football is simple it’s a game of blocking and tackling better than your opponent…Not too complicated. Fundamentals haven’t changed since the game been around.

Offensive Lineman don’t really learn to run block because they are in spread offenses from 7th grade on and are basically back on their heels at all times.

We do run the ball to pauls side very frequently. And we pull the guard and tackle from the opposite side.
Run blocking is a very different skill set than pass blocking. Paul does a good job in the run game, but he is elite as a pass blocker, which is what most teams care about in their left tackle

Young man is a really good football player. I am happy to see him receive this recognition.
