Haven’t thought of that name since the 90s.
I remember being excited when we hired Bubba Mcdowell. Loved those 90s Oilers despite always losing in the playoffs.

After Bubba and now Dishman now they can go after Daryl Lewis, Marcus Robertson and Blaine Bishop.

Former LB Eddie Robinson is the coach at Alabama St I think and Eddie George is the coach at Tennessee St.
Wasn’t it Steve Jackson who kept letting Beebee and Reed get loose in the 2nd half. That secondary got hammered. Cris was the guy who the Chronicle front page quoted the next day with ‘WE CHOKED’ in 20 pt font. Good times though despite all that
Reminding me of what a great defense that was. Add in Lamar Lathon, Michael Barrow and Al Smith at LB and a loaded DL with Will Fuller, Sean Jones, Ray Childress, Glen Montgomery and Lee Williams.
We had two former Coogs on that D with Lathon and Montgomery. Also had a former safety that might have been a reserve on that 93 team.

He lived down the street from us when I was a kid (during his Oiler prime) and he was always great to us. Good guy! Excited for him and for TSU!

All I know is every Bills TD in the second half had #31 Marcus Robertson one, or two, steps behind.

And don’t look now. 16 January 1994 is about 30 years ago. Montana and Kerry (or was it Keith) Cash put the final nail in Oilers coffin. I believe the city finally had it with the franchise after that.
@RWcoog thats the 1993 D you mentioned right. I can’t recall if Lee Williams from San Diego was on it but I think we got Leonard Marshall from the Skins that year. Barrow was a rook from the U. Baron Wortham (OU) was a good backer. Maybe Bo Orlando and Chuck Cecil but might’ve been the 1994 roster.

That was also the last year before the salary cap kicked in and when it did they lost Fuller and Sean Jones and that defense was never the same.

That defense was so stacked that Michael Barrow and Lamar Lathan didn’t even start.

I like Andre but he doesn’t have any coaching experience, too many HBCUs are trying to go for the Prime Effect. However, Coach Prime had 10 years of coaching experience before taking the Jackson State job.
Dishman has coached from the high school to NFL levels over the last 20 years.

Dishman had a rough start in his career with the Houston Oilers. He had a lot of PIs and played undisciplined. Fans made Dishman symbolic of the team’s woes.
I remember Anita Martini interviewing Dishman on the radio, and trying her best to put him over. She ended the interview saying something to the effect of “…you are not as bad as people say you are.”
