While looking for something to watch while waiting for the rain delay to end for the AAC T&F championship, I started watching “We Are Marshall”. Very good movie. Got me to thinking of which football movies are the best. Below is a pretty good list. My only real disagreement is “The Waterboy”, it is a better comedy than football movie.
- Remember the Titans
- Jerry Maguire
Waterboy
Invincible
Rudy
Rudy and Friday Nights are the top 2 in my book.
Next comes Remember the Titans.
- Brian’s Song
- North Dallas Forty
Blind Side
It’s cheating, but I would throw the tv series of Friday Night Lights in there.
Any Given Sunday
Waterboy
Necessary Roughness
Jerry Maguire
Varsity Blues
Express
Draft Day
I agree with several listed….I’ll throw in 12 Mighty Orphans.
Draft Day is a guilty pleasure. So much wrong with it, but never miss it when it comes on.
“You pancake eating M Fer”. Lol
“And David G Damn’d Putney”
All the Right Moves
We are Marshall
Greater is one of the best sports movies I have ever watched. Amazing story.
I’ll toss this one out there that most people won’t think of, but I still watch it when it comes on the telly. Heaven Can Wait, with Warren Beaty, Julie Christie (ooh la la), James Mason and Dyan Cannon (another ooh la la).
Very underrated.
A buddy of mine was going to Notre Dame when Rudy was filming….got to be an extra.
Said Sean Astin was quite a jerk.
Rudy, Friday Night Lights, Varsity Blues, Remember the Titans, Little Giants.
What was the movie about the Texas longhorns or the Texas a&m aggies, i cant remember. Its set in the early 1900s, and the movie takes place during a brutal summer training camp.
