One of the best American bands of All-Time

Announces their retirement

Saw them in ‘77 at The Summit.

AC/DC and Journey were the front groups.

Bad ass concert. Great memory.

I think thats one of the shows they put on their youtube page last year.

Yes. If you look closely, you might see me in the crowd partially hidden by a lot of smoky substance. Those were the days. :grinning:

Saw them at The Summit in maybe 95, they filmed stuff for one of their videos at that show. Sucks about Steven Tyler’s vocal injury but I’m glad he’s not trying to do it anyways as it would just dissapoint the fans.

Just another reminder of how the commercial music industry is dying if not already dead

Streaming services absolutely demolished this industry

What are you talking about? Streaming has absolutely zero to do with Aerosmith retiring or Steven Tyler’s vocal injury. It’s like you saw this was about musicians so you asked an AI for a smart music industry take and that’s what you got. Very non sequitur.

I mean there are no good bands left in the industry these days

Should have just said that instead. Would have actually made sense in context.

The Tedeschi Trucks Band says hi

lol my bad

Only 35 years too late.

If they had retired in the mid-80s the world could have been saved from “Dude Looks Like a Lady”, “Love in an Elevator”, and “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing”.

:man_shrugging:t3:

Yeah but “Cryin” and “Crazy” were worth it

Aerosmith died after the 70s.

I’m glad they quit rather than fake it by lip synching like a lot of their peers are doing.

Aerosmith didn’t start till the 1980s…ha

This conversation reminds me of that Weezer argument on SNL

They formed in 1970. Their career was practically over until the Run DMC Walk This Way collaboration in 86.

They produced five albums after the 70s: 82, 87, 93, 97 and 2001.

“I don’t want to miss a thing” was produced in 1998.

Tyler’s drug issues and feud with Joe Perry interrupted the band’s production.

Side note….

Aerosmith tried to recruit Lenny Kravitz in 2009, but Lenny declined.

During the same time frame, Led Zeppelin tried to recruit Tyler for a tour. He declined.

Bottom line…

Any report(s) of the demise of Aerosmith after the 70’s were greatly exaggerated.
