OK, Fritz’ regulation “freebie” sucky first season is over…

……now it’s time to see improvement.

Go bowling next year and I’ll be satisfied.

Easier schedule next year and it is his second year. I’ll set the floor of my expectations at 6 wins and a bowl game. I think next year we start on a run of bowl games every year with Fritz…

Staff changes and portal moves next

How do you set expectations before you know who the QB is going to be? That can be the difference in 3-5 games.

How do you set expectations before you see the totality of the transfer class (in and out)? Before the recruiting class signs?

How do you set expectations before you know staff changes? New OC?

Because our offense was booty cheeks. Only way to go now is up.

I think CWF clearly showed his ability to be the head football coach with all of the issues he had to navigate this season…

He put a winning, or competitive team, out there most games.

IF he can maintain this level of defense then he has a shot to win every season.

8 wins, in year 2, should be the bar which is a fair win total in THIS conference

That’s not even good enough to land yourself int he B12 CG let alone the Playoff.

Here is our schedule and I see 5 easy wins, as of today, and we will get better/stronger. deeper in the offseason:

SFA- WIN
@ RICE- WIN
@ Oregon State- WIN

@ Arizona State
@ Baylor

Arizona
Colorado
Texas Tech

TCU
West Virginia- WIN

@ Oklahoma State- WIN
@ UCF

I set my expectations of more victories mostly because both our OOC schedule, and our overall schedule, appear to be EASIER.

Hell, adding a I-FCS team to the schedule should account for at least one more win.

And unlike this past season, we should be favored in EVERY OOC game. That could very well be worth two more wins; enough to create bowl eligibility.

We get Tech and TCU both at home.

And we play UCF which will be rebuilding with a new coach, and last place Okie State.

All other factors being equal, I like our chances to be at least 1 or 2 wins better, given all that.

You’ve said several times that you should be favored in all OOC games. Why do you think UH will be favored at Oregon State? They went 5-7 and UH has been a bad road team for years.

remember, Oregon State is about to take a nose dive in talent since they are no longer a Power School and no path to become one again.

We should easily beat them but then again…I’m putting trust in CWF to do his job and prepare all 3 phases of his team.

I bet some of those schools have us penciled in as an “easy win” as well.

Easy.

First of all, the new PAC Light won’t be a P4 conference, and second of all, they were only 5-7 this season.

I see NO reason to believe that we won’t be favored over a G-conference team with a losing record, even on the road.

Why do you think that a G conference team with a losing record should be favored over what will almost certainly be an improved power conference team?

I’d like to hear your theory on that.

If I have no idea what UH will look like, how do I know what they will look like?

You believe them to be what their record says they are. Fine enough, but UH’s is worse. UH has struggled on the road. UH has to figure out the QB position.

The game is in week 5 and you don’t know the opponents for week 3 & 4. Are you on the road at Arizona State or UCF the week before? Is the game before emotional like Tech or Baylor or TCU? That matters.

They’ve recruited to the “P5” level for years. They only went 5-7 but won 18 games over the previous two years.

I don’t think they’ll be favored - I don’t know. We don’t know anything about the composition of the 2025 team.

OSU and Wazzu both took big transfer portal hits after the PAC collapsed though.

A lot of players went there thinking they would be playing power football, only to be let down.

Given that, an improved OSU seems unlikely.

And yet both schools MIIIIGHT have an easier path to the CFP than us…
