For the first time watching so many Big12 games this year, I’ve decided the officiating may be worse than the AAC’s. Especially the Kansas-Kansas State game last night
Baylor/ISU was way worse.
They’re pretty much all from the same pool. It’s possible you’re seeing the same officials doing an AAC and a Big XII game in the same week. The days of conferences having exclusive rights to an official are long gone.
I actually thought the refs in our Kansas game weren’t too terrible overall, but they missed a few egregious ones. Three times our guys got hit in the face and Ja’Vier was undercut with no foul calls. I also thought the goal tend call on JoJo was bad. I think it should be a rule that the official who made the call should not be allowed to participate in a video review. Some of these guys (looking at you Doug Sirmons) have way too much ego to reverse themselves on review.
Mack Rhodes agrees.
Not worse but just not good overall at any level.
The officiating they used to come into Hofheinz and early FC years was corrupt at times. While we have seen bad call it has at least been more honest.
I’ve seen the same refs from our AAC games also ref our Big 12 games.
I’ve been thinking about this today. I’ve basically come to the conclusion it’s because so many games are close it feels like the refs are worse. When we were in the AAC and BYU in the WCC a lot of games weren’t all that close, especially as it pertains to Houston.
Nobody cares about missed calls when you win by 25.
In the big 12, if there are 7 games, 4 of them are decided in the last two minutes, so we really scrutinize the refs. Basically, I’m just happy to be in a league that’s good enough to get upset about refs.
