Have you seen the Nissan commercial with our Shasta mascot prominently throughout! Just wish they would have cut out the Horn mascot! Great pub!
I thought it was Sasha in the commercial, which i found to be strange.
It was either Sasha or Shasta in a skirt its 2024.
Think they’re both in it, but more Sasha
Plus, Shasta’s a girl anyway. She can wear a cheerleader uniform if she wants.
Very cool. Thanks for posting.
I thought it was strange that they didn’t use Shasta either.
The girl version has always been Sasha
I think the fact that Sasha is a girl helped get her the gig
Sasha may be the only female mascot in NCAA. If there is another I haven’t ever seen her. So Sasha is an obvious choice, but it also helps UH really stand out. There will be people who cheer for us just because of that and there will be little girls who decide they are going to UH someday when they see it.
I did not realize, it looks like there are less than a dozen or so female mascots in major college athletics. Only ones I can find are UH, Arizona, Baylor, NC State, Florida, UCLA, Bowling Green, and Youngstown State. Also UC Santa Cruz’s mascot is a banana slug which is neither male nor female.
My , how the world has changed….
There are some that believe the female mascots should be at home on campus….
Now they can be out there representing the university….good for them, so happy to see this advancement in the mascot world.
Historically, Shasta (not Sasha) is one of two female primary mascots in FBS, not counting the female versions of the “real” mascot that a lot of schools have. The other one is Zippy at Akron.
UCLA has one for sure, Josie Bruin. And Delaware is nicknamed the Blue Hens, so without doing a Google search I’d assume they also have a female mascot.
Sasha rules!
Shasta is a girl; I mean SheHasta be a girl right?
In 2024, Shasta is a male. The one at the zoo is and the costume as well. The female is Sasha. But you probably already knew all of this.
Shasta is trans
First school with a butch/femme lesbian mascot couple.
Whose UHaul?
