Never Forget September 11, 2001

Just heard recordings of news flashes of that day. Gave me the chills.

If any of you take a trip to NY, I highly recommend visiting the 9/11 Museum. It’s heavy, but amazing at the same time. It’s laid out in chronological order with videos of news casts as it was happening.

Daughter just started first job out of college across the street from there last month… she was 4 months from being born 9/11. Can’t imagine losing a loved one in that way

Yep. It’s one of those moments that you can remember exactly where you were, what you were doing, and what you did after. It’s a day I’ll never forget.

The first time I took my son to the 911 Museum, he asked me if we should get the headphones for a guided tour. I told him, we don’t need it. You have me. As we were going through the timeline, I was able to relate to him while this was going on, this is what I was doing.

Even just now when I think about it, coincidentally somebody is cutting onions.

I was in 1st grade. I remember my dad picking me up from school early.

What a crazy day that was

I was at Fort Gregg-Adams (then known as Fort Lee) during the final week of my Captain’s Career Course. Let’s just say, class got cancelled that day…and we were at war for the rest of my military career!

I was “marching down the avenue” with my tickets to leave Navy Bootcamp as my division had just completed pass in review at Great Lakes Naval Training Center (bootcamp).

I got lucky and was stationed in Sicily and VA Beach for duty while others went to Iraq and Afghanistan.

From what I understand the P3s we kept in the air were used to spot enemy fires so our guys knew where they were instead of hunting submarines like they were designed to do…

I was about 4 years old. The only thing I can recall was my mom watching the news on TV.
