He was a cokehead at one point. Usually addicts just move from one addiction to another.

Honestly, he should try Mounjaro or Ozempic; those drugs have been shown to not only reduce weight, but addictions.

Actually, what I think he does is smart. He gets all kinds of publicity for his bets. His bets are probably offset by sales. I’m an OOTC, but I expect he still does his free giveaway on furniture if team X wins?
If you buy and X wins, it’s free. He wins on his bet but gives away free furniture. If X loses, he loses his bet, you have to pay for the furniture.

He’s been a good corporate citizen as far as UH is concerned. He has supported UH. He knows that Whorns and Aggies buy furniture too and supports them as well. Remember the Michael Jordan quote when asked why he wasn’t more active politically, “Republicans by shoes too.”

Mack could teach advertising 101, mass media blitz used by My Pillow and Balance of Nature today. Hundreds of adds a day make you look successful even when he was working out of a shack on I45 in the 70’s, dressed as a mattress he would jump around on TV until he was the talk of the town, now worth millions.

Uh, I don’t know about the shack but I do know that he came here from every H town’s favorite-Dallas. He wasn’t exactly on welfare either, considering his brother-who had mucho pesos and coins-had given him 5K to scout around and see if he could start a bidness. Something in my expanding gut tells me he wasn’t living in a shack. --and how, being so poor, could he afford a TV ad(s)?

Not living in a shack, Gallery Furniture was a small warehouse in the 70’s. I drove by many times in 70’s and 80’s and remember seeing the transformation, it started out as a dump. I would never buy a mattress from there. Completely different today. Back in the day, they only sold mattresses, I think it was called Gallery Mattress, now Gallery Furniture.
