Jordan Mccloud to UH?

Didn’t this guys team just lose to AF? Why some folks so excited about him?

Didn’t Smith lose 8 games??? Why some folks so excited about him?

He’s a talent for sure, but nothing says I gotta have him. Didn’t keep up with him thru the season and who they were beating, but he looked average vs pressure. I think WF is looking for a young guy to come and compete after DS is done. Which makes Nelson intriguing to come in and compete with whose on the roster now and keep brining in young talent thru hs every year to compete.

Not excited about McCloud or Smith. Need to go big game hunting for one of these QB like Malachi etc

So what excites you about Nelson when he hasn’t proven anything minus his hs stats? Most scholarship qbs have remarkable stats, but it doesn’t always transition to the next level.

Nothing at the moment besides he’s a highly rated raw talent that can be developed if he’s developed right may have him for all the years he’s eligible. With QB transferring at the drop of a hat that’s a long shot…but who knows.

Donovan Smith aint it. Too streaky for my liking!

So with the mindset of WF and company develops players, who’s to say McMickle isn’t the next one up? Or are just chasing highly rated guys because of the stars and rankings? Just asking?

That’s cool and a good observation but he was in his first year of being the starter. He had ups and downs but who’s to say Barbay scheme doesn’t take him to the next level? Just asking

Those stars mean something, look at the teams who perennially recruit the 5 & 4 star players Bama, Georgia, Ohio States etc there in the thick of it, every year for NC’s…

I think coach Fritz will bring his own QB.

But clearly, Fritz has an eye for talent. Look at Sampson, he’s not bringing in McDonald’s All Americans to fit his style. Those big time guys that want to come put on for the H is great but fit is everything. Just saying

McCloud was the Sun Belt Player of the Year. His QB rating was 9th nationally. He was largely the reason JMU was ranked in the Top 25 this season and won 11 games. He is definitely an upgrade from Smith.

I don’t think he won’t but he’s going to evaluate what’s on the roster in Jan and Feb and decide. He wants to run an NFL style offense so he’s gonna look at those intangibles over what the rating says. Look at the hs kid he had coming in to Tulane. He is a 2 star. He saw something he liked, or he wouldn’t have offered him.

How do you prove that. Again not looking at JMU schedule, but could DS go there and do the same against the competition? Stats is one thing and intangibles are another. I’m just saying

He also has way more resources than what he had in Tulane so its reasonable hes going to go after bigger fish.

FB and BB are different dymanics one you have a roster of 12 and the other a roster of 85 souls. Like any team sport the coach is got to get them to mesh together. Best place starts with your QB in FB who’s usually seen as one of the team leaders if not the leader.

I’m hoping Fritz and staff develop all out talent . I don’t think Smith or McCloud will be consistently successful if they are under pressure constantly. I’ve only seen McCloud today but he seemed like a smaller but quicker version of DS. Both have good arms and passing ability when they are relaxed but when spooked poor decisions arise so coaching up will be necessary for either to take us to another level

So does Texas but somehow they ended up with Colt McCoy, a 3 star. Intangibles are everything. Do I think he can get bigger fish in the pond, yes, but he’s going to go after guys he likes, not guys with all the stars.

Big :smirk:

Common buddy, you can’t judge anyone by one game….not in football anyway.
