How often do you think about the Roman Empire?

My wife just got me with this, but there’s a trend going around Tik Tok right now where women ask their men how often they think about the Roman Empire.

Most men seem to think about the Roman Empire weekly (like me) while women don’t think about it at all.

So my CoogFans question is how often do YOU think about the Roman Empire?

The Roman Empire was WAY ahead of its time.

They made many advancements in technology and construction and used the Empire as a giant network to ping information. The cities remain all over Europe, and beyond, today. Even the world capital city of London was a creation of the Roman Empire…Londinium

Most was lost after the Empire fell and it took centuries to catch back up.

The Roman empire created the Latin people , culture and language so if you speak a Romance language…thank Rome.

Rome sat in the state of Latium which literally translates to “Land of the Latins”. The
modern Italian word for that state is Lazzio. Even Italia is influenced by the Latin/Italic origins.

But…the overwhelmingly biggest contribution of the Roman Empire that EVERYONE talks about EVERY single day… is the religion of Christianity.

If it wasn’t for Roman Emporer Constantine…Christianity would have died on the vine as an underground cult. The state of Israel never cared to promote it, rejected it actually, but it was when Jesus proto orthodox teachings were fused with Roman Pagan rituals (modern day Christmas, easter, Halloween, etc) that it really started to spread throughout the Empire.

It was the Roman Empire that allowed that 400 year period for the bible to be written and in Latin and Greek not Jesus native Aramaic!

More people talk about the Roman Empire than they realize but im biased since they are my ancestors

The Roman Empire reminds me of America in a lot of ways.

Yeah…hopefully, we don’t also crumble under our own weight but we are definitely in the transition phase of a develping empire to a developed empire.

High crime, exremely high homeless population, high cost of living/medical/insurance costs, mediocre infrastructure and low quality of life /food metrics are not helping.

No, yeah, ALL of it reminds me of Rome. Even down to the internal corruption within Rome’s government, to the border issues they had with the Germanic tribes, who ended up settling on their lands.

Almost never, to answer the question.

The Holy Roman Empire!

You may not actively think about but …it’s influences are everywhere…

As I mentioned, Christianity was meticulously put together by the Roman Empire. It was a 400 year political battle bur the Roman Empire got the version they wanted.

Sure, but thats true of a lot of groups, like the Moors and the Greeks too. I wouldn’t say I think about them on a regular basis, either.

It’s true at my house. I think about the Romans often, while my wife probably could not name a single Roman past Julius Caesar

Quite a lot. Always looking for events in the Roman Empire that are happening today from a government and corruption standpoint.

I think about the Songhai Empire more.

Other interesting thing is Pilot’s wife was Christian and had a dream to leave Jesus alone which she told him before it all and so it’s maybe why pilot let it up to the people to decide. He tried washing his hands of it .
