Houston Astros 2023 Season on a daily roll

I would think their analytics group definitely saw something in him that they think they can fix to get him back to his '22 form.

This report thinks that Neris could be back.

I wouldn’t say no, but these other two IMO are better pitchers and both are younger.

Neris is probably looking for a three yr deal (and he’ll probably get it). If we could resign him for two yrs I’d jump all over that.

Especially Hicks. I would love to have both of them.

Hicks is really good now.

If he ever puts it all together?!

Hicks is also a native Houstonian.

They might be able to fix him and I like the move but that’s a very small piece to a much bigger puzzle when the Yankees have Soto and Judge and the Rangers are going to make a big move, too——per my instincts.

Caveat: I know the Yankees pitching will collapse mid season but I get nervous when they start lining up future HOF’ers in the same lineup. And there’s only one silver lining in us not winning it all
the Yankees flaming out.

I really don’t get the Meyers obsession. He’s gotten “a chance” several times and pretty much proved he’s not that guy.

Hopefully, this is just some gamesmanship more than just not really having any good opportunities.

If they are going with Meyers again then Brown ain’t the guy. He’s a one-dimensional tomato can

I can’t access the article though. I hope its just poker.

I don’t have a subscription. What about Chas?

I think this is the same article - talks about McCormick in LF.

That article really depresses me. What the Hell you’re going to give him a chance to see what he can do?!

Really?!?

At what point in time over the last several years did anyone want to see him play every day? McCormick isn’t an every day player?! WT absolute F?!?!?!

If this ain’t gamesmanship we are screwed beyond belief. I cannot picture these words coming out of Lunhow or Click’s mouths.

That’s cheap.

Hicks is like 27?

Are we going to forever not sign a good reliever because Bagwell screwed the pooch with Montero?

Common Dana, Grow a pair

sheesh

I wouldn’t necessarily want the GM saying “we don’t think Meyers can get it done, so we’re looking to go a different direction,” even if that’s the truth. But their approach in the past makes me think they actually DO think he’s the answer that hasn’t revealed itself yet. And he didn’t mention Dubon?

I agree. I think you don’t mention him at all if you can help it
unless you’re inflating his importance as a market manipulator.

I’m kinda thinking that’s what’s going on. Brown has to know he’s gonna get carpet-bombed by the fans if he opens with Myers in center.

He said Dubon could play some CF but he wants him back in more of a utility role.

I personally thought any talk of Meyers being the starting CF was just trying to drive up trade value.

Dana better not screw up on Hicks or Stephenson

we need another high leverage arm in the pen.

Retaining Meyers is puzzling.

Batted .227 for the past two seasons.

Management continues to look at his 2021 output with hopes that he can repeat.
