For the same money it would take to sign Ohtani (500+ mil) he could lock up Tuck and Framber.
The interest in Japan would be a boon for the organization. It would be nice to have him in the rotation but I donât know. I think I would rather spend that money on a dominant closer another power bat and an ace.
Not my point sideways, stick to the hypothetical dream please.
Guys I know we could do this and that with the money needed to sign him.
Iâm just thinking all of the new revenue created would pay a good portion of his contract.
And? Lol
And what??
Are we sure we want to resign Tucker and Framber?
The question with Tucker is he as good as Lance Berkman. Tucker is not THE GUY. He is a good piece, which is valuable if you are of Berkmanâs quality.
A fully healthy Ohtani might be worth the price, but an injured Ohtani would hurt both the pitching rotation and the batting lineup, not to mention hamstringing the salary cap.
This is where risk management comes into view.
With the money saved by not signing him, the Astros could add nice pieces to a team that was only ONE game away from winning WS #3.
Nice thought, but not worth the risk.
If we are sitting around .500 at the break then trade him and get a great haul.
Having said that I donât expect to be anywhere near .500.
I saw video of Whitley somewhere hitting upper 90âs with run and a good breaking ball( in a bully)
If his head is right he would be a filthy option as a mid inning guyâŠâŠlate inning stuff in the 6th inning would be nice.
Still think we should sign HicksâŠâŠa shutdown BP gives us a shot.
Would love to get Hicks to add to Pressly + Abreu (especially after losing Neris).
Would be awesome if Whitley could finally get his head straight but thatâs a HUGE if.
Looks like theyâre saying LMJ + Garcia are targeting July. Would like to see them add a reliable SP but just donât see them doing that given where they are on the luxury tax. Crane should be all in for this yr and next yr and going above the tax threshold certainly would help.
I heard Lance is July but Garcia would be ready by May.
Yeah, Hicks would make the pen filthyâŠ.
Pressly
Abreu
Hicks
Graveman (reverts back to closer worthy, which I donât think is crazy)
Forrest ( come in throw 98-100 with movement and a really good curveball and slider)
If everyone of these guys was in top form there is not another bullpen in baseball that can touch this one.
Soto to NYY in a 7 player deal.
Soto & Verdugo now in some combo w Judge in OF
CBS hates the Padres haul.
Yes.
âEven with last seasonâs struggles, Coleman has a career ERA of 3.88. He has a three-pitch arsenal of fastball, sweeper, and cutter.â
If Coleman is healthy he can hit triple digitsâŠâŠthis was a fourth round pick with good stuff.
So for the guys that casually follow the team donât listen to the idiots on âXâ or sports talk that make fun of the guy.
Yesterday I heard a couple of guys laughing and making fun of the move based on the guys ERA from a small sample size last year when he was not rightâŠ.i canât stand that BS.
Dana Brown and the scouts know a little more than Doughboy Ross.
Signing Coleman reminds me of an episode from the movie, Moneyball.
Brown allegedly has an eye for talent. If so, in this particular instance, the Astros will be the beneficiary.
Astros talking to Jordan Hicks and Robert StephensonâŠâŠwe need one of these guysâŠI would prefer Hicks but Stephenson would be a nice consolation prize.
But if we get at least one of them are pen is dirty fellas.
