Click was about to give up a good starter for a two year rental.

Before Crane signed off he went and talked to Dusty……we’ll I don’t know how much he knew before but apparently Dusty and Click did not see eye to eye on many things.

Click was pissed when Dusty moved Pena to the #2 ……Click was pissed that Dusty preferred Maldy at Catcher….

Anyway, Dusty said it would be a waste to bring in Contreras because he was going to keep giving the majority of the starts to Maldy anyway……obviously had to be a lot more going on.

Then this morning we find out he was actually fired….was offered a raise over the 1M he made last year……turned down and then was complaining at the GM meetings….word got back to Crane.

For me personally, Click frustrated me because I felt like he was running us like the Rays……Analytics are similar but budgets are not……we can afford to be a top 5 payroll every year——if need be.

When you say running us like the Rays what do you mean? I can’t keep up with baseball management. Was he just going by statistics?

And I cannot believe a GM wants to tell a manager his batting order. WTF is the manager for? Dusty should have kicked him in the balls. I don’t agree with Dusty on some things but I do respect him as a baseball manager. Did Click want to call the bullpen, too?

What he just said. Going moneyball style.

I think Crane was tired of sitting on cash for bargain type players based on analytics. And hoping those analytics pan out.

Like we are a small budget team that has to hoard prospects and not outbid someone on a guy we consider a difference maker.——-I’m not talking about dealing out 10 year idiotic deals, but going 4-5 years with a higher AAV.

He’ll Crane was the one that stepped in this past season and personally signed JV….not Click….Yes, it was an overpay for a 39 year coming off TJ but Crane took the chance….

No way we have the season we just had without him.

Well, I agree with that. With deGrom wanting to come to Texas how will the Verlander negotiations work out? What is Crane’s top price? And how much more would he pay deGrom if he loses Verlander?

Also, from everything I read Montero was going to be a walk……No way Click re-signs him.

That is a Crane deal right there gentlemen.

We have a Steinbrenneresque owner on our hands….without the look at me and lack of common sense.

I think Crane’s finances are much more plentiful than when he first purchased.

Can’t answer those Funk.

Honestly not sure.

There is a limit no doubt and I don’t think JV would rake Crane over the coals. I think Crane’s limit depends on how much the value Yuli, how much the value, Yainer and Lee, McCormick….we just don’t know.

If Crane thinks based on all the information he has that Lee can backup Maldy…. And that Playoff / 2021 Yuli will be what we see vs 2022 regular season Yuli then he does not need to spend on a Rizzo or Bell( I think Bell would be a bust, he was horrible after the trade)……And if he believes Yainer can back up Yuli and be a 3rd C that saves money.

A bit more on JV?

I really hope we don’t go after Nimmo….

A trade needs to happen for another OF.

Do we re-sign Brantley? How is the shoulder?

Lots of moving parts.

The moves Click made were:

*acquiring bullpen pieces (Yimi Garcia, Kendal Graveman, Phil Maton, Rafael Montero, Hector Neris)

*Resigning Astros players (Justin Verlander, Michael Brantley)

It may seem harsh now, but in a few years with an older Altuve, Bregman wanting a new contract, does Click have the ability to keep adding high level position players?

His acquisitions didn’t indicate that.

Couldn’t Brantley play 1st and use Yuli as DH?

I don’t want Bell either. There’s something about him. Rizzo? That guy is a serious ballplayer. And if he wanted to be here you could probably still use Yuli as a DH and Sunday platoon.

Why would you do that?

To save the money and use it on your CF and utility pick-ups. Brantley ain’t displacing Yordan in left and I like Tucker but he’s best in RF.

Why would you sign Yuli and not use him at 1B? He’s an excellent first baseman on defense.

I’m saying to have both bats in the lineup…at the same time. Or just use Brantley as the fulltime DH. Also the platoon would help both stay fresh. I love Yuli at first.

Brantley could have a few Beltran years, hopefully the shoulder heals up well
