Houston Astros 2023 Season on a daily roll

On the other hand Maldonado can get it over the wall pretty easily.

(I’m sitting here defending Maldonado)

If hitting .186 gets you on the list as one of the best offensive performing catchers in the AL, then I don’t know what’s happening.

Maldonado trails the next catcher by over 20 points, and most of them hit .250 or better. He hit some home runs after the trade deadline, but still…

Yep……he does have belly power.

The Yankees are in a serious dilemma. They need Judge to be able to win more than 85-88 games next year. Keeping Judge will cost them at least 350 million if not more. Holding Judge cuts their off-season budget in half. They cannot beat the Astros even with Judge.

They’re screwed and the world is a better place for it. F—- Cashman.

Mancini and Will Smith have their options declined. They gone.

I am glad Mancini got a ring.

That is the dilemma of baseball. If you have an unbalanced lineup in terms of production you never get out of that spiral. Your one or two producers keep getting more and more money thus eliminating the ability to go get other producers. Once your one or two producers start their downward slide, you are spiraling into oblivion.

It is the Albert Puhols situation with the Angels. He was a great player, one of the greatest but he is the reason Angels have sucked for so long. Now Puhols has been replaced by Ohtani, but it is the same problem. Trout and Ohtani and nobody else.

I agree. I’d rather try it again with the same staff than throw everything in on another Carlos Lee. Need a GM.

Someone explain how Crane finds a GM. Does he reach out to other owners? Does he hire a search firm?

He already has his guy picked out.

It’s a matter of if Milwaukee lets him loose.

If not it could be Reggie Jackson/ Jeff Bagwell combo….lol

Reggie is 76.

Dusty is 73. Credit to Dusty. Still has a lot of energy and vigor

The Reggie/Bagwell thing is a joke based off what has been reported……not that they are being considered just that Crane holds them both in high esteem and picks their brains……appreciates their perspectives.

What is Crane looking for? A complete program guy? A top roster manager? A money-maker?

He always looks mad to me.

I think Crane wants to handle the salary negotiations himself.

I just hope he’s not trying to be Jerry Jones.

I keep hearing all this about how they disagreed. What did they disagree on?

The biggest thing I’ve seen was how aggressive to be at trade deadlines.

Crane wants more aggression or less?

More.
