Houston Astros 2023 Season on a daily roll

I don’t think Click has to suggest anything, he owns the roster construction. If he thinks Jake is a better fit for the postseason, he has the ability to add him to the roster.

ALDS roster construction should be interesting!!!

Jake really played himself out of a spot this year, despite having ample opportunities. I don’t think raking for a week in AAA is gonna get him on the playoff roster unless there’s an injury.

Just so much more upside than Dubon.

If he’s finally showing he’s healthy, I think it’s worth a shot.

I just don’t think “upside” is a consideration when you’re trying to put together a playoff run, especially when you have a lot of actual playing time to look at. Maybe he came back too early, or maybe he’s just not ready to be a major leaguer, but as much as I like him, Jake was our worst CF performer this year.

His next chance will be in the Spring, imo.

It appears every one of the trade deadline deals has worked out in the Astros favor.

I can’t stand an every day player that can’t hit.

The TV guys just said that Click left the door open for Myers. I’d still be surprised.

‘Stros brought the bats tonight- three HRs in the 6th, including Altuve’s second of the night.

Lets hope this is the beginning of the bat battalion because we’re gonna need every hit we can get in October.

Something I noticed……from experience I can tell you Brown was not fully warmed up when entering the game….when he came in relief last week he was upper 90’s with the fast ball……until the last batter today every fast ball 94,94….then last pitch of the inning was 98.

If this is role they want him to fulfill that is fine……but, …the bull pen coach needs to get him revved up sooner….he should come in blowing 98-100 in short relief.

Altuve is trying to get to .300… Looks like this wasn’t the year he starts fading…

Beware of Senor Octubre!

Would be great if he could finish @ .300 (especially with an OPS above .900)

To anyone that strangely thought that Altuve was over the hill, here is where he currently ranks this season (source: Brian McTaggart).

100 runs, 2nd
.919 OPS, 3rd (behind Judge, Alvarez)
.531 slugging, 4th
.387 OBP, 4th
65 walks, 10th
.298 average, 10th
28 homers, 11th
35 doubles, 12th

That OPS from a guy his size playing second base is unbelievable, especially for someone who’s “over the hill.”

Now Yuli - I never would have believed he would fall off so far from last year without an injury.

I’m telling you guys…. From the first time I saw him in a AA game I could tell he was the real deal.

The travel party the Astros do before the season always comes through San Antonio…… however many years back when Altuve was just a rookie he was one of the players at the local Academy….I had bought two brand new orange Astros cap for my son….one to wear and the other for Altuve’s autograph….it sits in the case we put it in that very day……still looks brand new….my son keeps it in his brand new office.

Altuve going to finish top three in MVP after Judge and Ohtani

He’s now second in the AL in fWAR among position players.

The 900 OPS much much more impressive
