Hostile & Toxic College Fanbase Tiers for Football

@BigGameBoomer on Twitter came up with these lists.

Big game boomer is a joke, their lists never make sense, and their content borders on parody.

I thought it was a parody account!

Sorry neighborhood we’re living in now> Neighbors equally depressed.

Beyond the parody, I suppose this only takes in consideration general “hostility” because Memphis is chippy with UH. When I was at UH, we were a bit hostile with Tulane.

@WVUFAN probably can comment on the state of the Pitt relationship.

Happy to defend USF as most toxic here. I went to a game in Tampa with my 6 year old son, had a great time. No problems with Bulls fans whatsoever. On the contrary, very cordial and kind. It’s pretty cool playing in that nice NFL stadium and getting to stretch out a bit.

We play in the same conference as Cinci, worst fans on the planet, philly-esque

Do they Boo Santa too?

I really didn’t have an issue last year at the AAC Championship… But I can hold my own when it comes to talking $h1t…

One guy tried heckling me before the game when he was buying beer… I just let him know that Cinci offense was about to venture down Sack Ave…

Fun game!

Coincidentally, I didn’t run into any issues at the Eagles v Texans game a few years back in Philly, either… One guy did act like he was performing cunnilingus for about 3 minutes before I told him that was enough and to turn around…

I’m convinced they hate UH. Almost always on the wrong side of these lists and had them on upset alert a few times this year. Unfortunately, they weren’t wrong. Ha

The last time we played at LSU, I had a great time with their fans. Aside from the constant tiger bait chant, everyone was friendly. Tailgating was out of this world and lots of them offered us food. Good time, good times.

I think Big Game Boomer’s goal is to create 5-6 of these lists a day. As you say, many don’t make sense. I guess that’s the result of pumping out the volume of flotsam that he does.

Clearly got the most toxic fan base of the Big 12 wrong. Texas is toxic, don’t misunderstand, but they’re nowhere near the level of Texas Tech.

I wonder what the author means if MT (Middle Tennessee) is placed in Tier 6 (Non-Existent) in the “Hostile Tiers” list, but yet is ranked as “Most Toxic” in CUSA in the “Most/Least Toxic Fanbase” list. Does it mean that “Most Toxic” in CUSA means nothing when compared to the other conferences? Or something else?

More lists are coming as we approach New Year’s. Top 10 favorite Top 10s of 2022!

The amount of trips to games at each of the venues vs different opponents to really do a ranking like this is well beyond Boomer Sooner. This is most likely based on what he and his friends think and/or social media interactions with “fans” of schools.

Lots of this is who is travelling and which fans they interact with. A bunch of young guys on the road getting their drink on is far more likely to draw fan hostility than a mixed-gender group of middle-age fans.

Still, next to the actual games, talking about fan hatreds is fun.

Tech is definitely one of the most toxic.

Regarding LSU fans offering food to random fans, where else is known for that? I went to a Rutgers game about 20 years ago by myself and met some tailgating fans. I regularly go to SMU games and people keep to themselves. It’s a grand time but you have to know people.

Back in The Rob days we’d feed other fans all the time…Marshall folks always seemed to be very appreciative and cool

It’s all about the clicks. Not a bad strategy though. College football fans want to know where their team falls on the list.
