I am no Thibodeau fan, but this is on Grimes. I have seen him play in person a few times, and for whatever reason, he has stopped going to the rim and has settled for too many 3s and is turning the ball over way too much. As a result, he is losing playing time to Emmanuel Quickly and Josh Hart.
Maybe he has lost confidence or the team has lost confidence in him. Perhaps a change of scenery would be good for him.
Yeah he’s been missing some shots. But also he’s not getting enough playing time to be regular and get out of it. The thing is he does have a short leash because there’s others who pretend to be more consistent. But they’re not as good as last year.

Yes! The best thing that happened to those young players is Thibs leaving. He is a horrible coach of young players (and not really that good at coaching older ones either). Easily one of the most overrated coaches in the league.
NBA League writers love him because he talks crap about the players (who they don’t like), so they always sing his praises.
He also has a tendency to wear down his players. He only has a few he will trust and plays them significant minutes and apparently his practices are really hard too. I think he’s one of the reasons Derrick Rose’s career was hampered by injuries

What lineups are you envisioning? I don’t really see that Tate is blocking Whitmore and whose minutes you are planning to give to Grimes, especially when Thompson comes back.
I agree. Last I checked Tate was playing PF, so not sure how getting rid of him would free mins up for Grimes. Who knows!
