GAMEDAY THREAD: Houston at Rice (L 43-41)

It’s so dang sad that I expected us to have a hard time winning all 3 OOC games. I wanted us to win, but sucks that I knew it would be tough sledding to get past utsa and rice. Now I freaking gotta worry about Sam

red80, I love your optimism and devotion to UH. You are a great example of a never-say-die alum. I appreciate that. I know you see the shortcomings of this current regime walking the sidelines. I applaud you sticking with the Coogs through the thick and the thin. We are in for a lot of “thin” this season. I fear it may be a 2-win season. Hang tough, my man.

No one is pulling for the Coogs to lose. That’s a false narrative that y’all have been spinning for 5 years whenever anyone doubted Dana’s ability to lead and elevate this program pointing out very obvious red flags. That narrative doesn’t work anymore.

I wonder if the Dana defenders will change their tone after we’re down 34-3 at the half in our first ever B12 game at home next week

I am not even sure who I was responding to lol, so I can see how my reply could be taken out of context. My bad

Dana has shown he can lose games in which we are favored (regularly), but we never beat teams when we are real underdogs (say more than a TD).

This would be one of those red flags that has been pointed out and dismissed.

Can’t wait for the post season excuse. Blame the recruits for not wanting to stay home, not enough money, i need one more year. Captain Excuses time is running out. Sooner this Fudd is out of here the better we are to rebuild given the right coach who can bring an actual culture to the coogs and make them fun again.

Our defense better actually have a game plan because the Frogs can score quick and often. They should have beaten Colorado.
That said, their defense is not near as good as a year ago but the offense can crank out the yardage.
After two weeks of play I am not sure anyone in the Big 12 can touch Texas. Hope I am wrong but I can’t see someone beating them in league play

It’s going to take 3 TOs or more to have a chance. Briles is going to go fast and probably giddy facing Belk

Welp here we are again. Much sooner in the season. Cheers fellas! Don’t waste too much money

Well he is going to have plenty of chances the rest of this year. I am not really sure we will be favored to win any games the rest of the year except for maybe Sam Houston…

He probably would have been an HC already.

Yeah don’t get it. But then again who are we recruiting?

:man_shrugging:t5:

I don’t really understand what our system is. We want to play with speed but we have slow dudes. We want to be a running team but we don’t have run blockers. We have TEs that we don’t utilize.

This is what happens when your leader spends more time at the golf course and casino floor than on the recruiting trail.

Come on East you are making yourself look silly. I understand why you did your reply, but Belk is not even a decent DC much less head coach. He has gotten a lot of press as being so touted but we sure aren’t showing it on the field.

This coog team is hard to gauge. On one hand, they gave up 28 un answered. On the other hand they scored 35 unanswered

Unfortunately that is not the end of the story…we still fell short because our defense fell apart under pressure…

No I am not. Look around at the number of white coordinators that have had one or two good seasons and then got HC jobs:

  • Gene Chizik
  • Will Muschamp
  • Kenny Dillingham
  • Tom Herman
  • Chad Morriss

BTW, I am not defending Belk as a coach. Just answering the question presented.

Agree here. Our team makeup, preparation, playcalling, all of it is sloppy and unfocused mirroring our HC. This is no coincidence. Will never change until he is gone.

Its the 3-4 that worked well in the aac. Stacking the box with linebackers and having several nfl lineman. Trusting your dbs to cover

In terms of what herman did here
