Why is a game match up like this on ESPN+? Silly. Since I don’t have ESPN+, I need to find a watch party. We’re in The Woodlands. Suggestions? Thanks.
The problem with finding a sports bar to watch this week is that there is a Texans playoff game that will be going on at the same time. Sports bars are gonna be 99% Texans from 3:30 to at least 6:30. You also have to find a bar that actually has ESPN+. The Little Woodrows in town that I have visited have it, but not every place is going to.
We have 4 games left this month on Plus, buying a 1 month subscription for $11.99 is probably your best bet.
If you start today. You have 2 mos covered till March 7 for 22.00. It’s the Way to go. Cancel at anytine.
Our last ESPN+ game is on February 8th. So you really only need one month, unless you want to watch other teams play.
I watch those plus games on you tube.
Yep we start and cancel depending on the season.
Ha. Exactly what i do Butch. I start it in early Sept ( Football) for any Coogs/BearKats gms on ESPN+, then i use to cancel in May when Coogs baseball was good. Now i stop around March 10th bc I like to watch alot of other BIG12 Basketball on +.
Because ESPN created this new streaming service and they need it to be successful so when they make a contract with Big XII, AAC, SEC whatever they work it in that X number of matchups need to be on +. They pccasioanly put the big matchups on there so people feel forced to get a subscription.
I have the Hulu, ESPN+, Disney bundle for $15 a month. When I just had ESPN+ I paid for it Nov - March and canceled it.
I know, don’t try and fix what ain’t broke, but Sharp doesn’t get anywhere near enough shots in this offense. He is averaging 14ppg on 8.8 shots (Cryer 14 on 12 shots). Has taken 9, 9, 4, and 6 shots in the last four games (and scored 52 points on those 28 shots), meanwhile, Roberts has taken 4 more shots in that time and scored 12 less points, Uzan has taken 2 more shots for 12 less points, and Cryer has taken 16 more shots to score a whole 2 more points than Sharp.
He’s by far our most efficient scorer on the team and is shooting nearly 50% from 3 (but not even taking 6 a game-- he should be somewhere closer to 8-10 threes per game). He needs more touches. Like last night, we waste way too many possessions where Sharp doesn’t touch the ball and all we get is some ineffective post up shot or one of our big men just turns the ball over. (I feel like our bigs get way too many touches for not being particularly effective on offense.)
This doesn’t matter against the TCUs and BYUs of the world since our defense is so elite, but Sharp can’t be getting 5 shots against Iowa State or Kansas. I don’t know if it’s the team not looking to get him involved, or if Sharp himself needs to be more aggressive, but him averaging 7 shots per game over the last 4 isn’t going to cut it.
If the game against BYU was on ESPN+, I’m not surprised this one is on there too.
We still have Coog baseball
Definitely a reason to cancel espn plus lol
You sure do.
Edit: as a non-Alum my current position is to not watch them on the PLUS starting in February.
But you may be watching a team a little further to the north.
. I wait see how thgs start for both Teams in Feb, then decide if it’s worth watching either. I’m on Astros once April hits, so from April–August it’s pretty much MLB for me. Maybe the Rockets will continue their current trend/status n allow me to watch NBA playoffs for the Locals in a while.
It seems our offensive philosophy is to run the offense thru our bigs, mainly J’wan, and have them pass or shoot the ball.
I have complained about our offense, but it’s hard to dispute the success on the court.
Go Coogs!
There are some complexities behind what you are seeing that play into why things are the way they are. If we stop doing things that seem fruitless, like running a lot of possessions through the post, to get Sharpe more shots, then the difficulty level of those shots might rise significantly because the defense will change it’s focus and structure.
most of that is sharp himself… against the elite defenses he will get 4-5 shots and its not by design but by sharps on tendencies… he will only shoot off the dribble at the end of shot clocks. give him any remote space he will pull the 3, but like you noted versus the good teams they dont give you space … against the good teams he wont even challenge that, he wont even try to dribble the ball.
against good team uzan and lj end up taking way more shots becuase both will atleast try to break down the defender of the dribble. its easy to take out sharp if you are good on defense (not counting transition and offensive rebound kick out 3s )
the positive is that from the end of shot clock shots he has taken this year, its not a capabilities thing more a willingness thing
Yeah, I’d wondered if he was just like a lot of good shooters I guarded back in the day— an inch of daylight and they’ll make you pay, but as long as you stay home (and stay in their jersey), you can more or less take them out of the game. He needs to work on getting himself open better, particularly without the ball (and it wouldn’t kill Sampson to set him some back screens or run some sets to get him open looks, though I don’t know if that’s really how Sampson operates.)
