Tarleton - expansion bridge 2 far mentally for many.
Not a ridiculous choice in a “getting in TX regardless” way.

Does this mean Texas State not going MWC ?

Also
No “Battle Of The Piney Woods” w Sam Houston now.
SFA wanted SAM to $ them out.

Didnt Smoaky play at SFA ?
Probably comes up today on 365 Sports

Tarleton making it to FBS before SFA would be a huge upset, and disappointing to me, personally.

Tarleton St. has a stadium necessary for FBS (24,000). Them and UTEP to MWC would make me think Texas St. is either talking PAC-12 or staying in the Sun Belt.

PAC > MWC. Is the MWC better than Sun Belt? MAC?

Why not Sam over Tarleton? SFA is in pretty bad financial shape, right? Enrollment is only 11K and decreased about nine percent from 2021 to 2023.

Definitely better than the MAC.

In I-FBS, the MAC is absolutely ROCK bottom.

The MAC is low on the totum pole, but these days, C-USA is lower than the MAC. MTSU and WKU tried to get out of C-USA and join the MAC after The American invited everyone from C-USA. The MAC decided not to expand.

Hmmm.

I dunno man!

Liberty made a Jan 6th bowl from CUSA last year, right?

The MAC didn’t.

It’s going to come down to money. Right now, the PAC-12 doesn’t have a media deal. Then add costs of travel for all sports and it will depend on which makes the most sense.

Tell Western Michigan that.

I mean the MAC has sent teams to NY6 bowls before. Liberty getting the NY6 was a joke and it played out as such. Worst showing from a G5/non-AQ team ever.

Looks like UTEP’s dream came true

Last year, as I asked?

No.

Several years ago.

We are asking which G conference is the worst today, and most seasons.

I think that the MAC has generally been worse than CUSA over the years, and remains so today.

Clearly the perennially worst in FBS year in and year out.

After the last round of realignment it’s CUSA.

Again.

Not sure I agree.

CUSA made a NY6 more recently than the MAC.

Because their competition level was so weak they managed to go undefeated. Liberty had the worst showing ever by a non-major conference team in a major bowl. That’s going back to the BCS era. Major embarrassment.

And unless things have changed, the MAC also ranks last in average attendance.

CUSA/MAC is pretty much a wash on attendance.

UTEP was the oldest member of C-USA (2004), but they accepted an invite to the MWC.

Now, the oldest members will be La. Tech, MTSU, and FIU (2013).

MTSU and WKU tried to leave C-USA and join the MAC after the last realignment. Why would they leave C-USA if they thought it was going to be a stronger conference?

Ultimately they didn’t leave, which suggests, of course, that CUSA was a better option.
