Future Realignment Thread

There is Texas State in San Marcos and North Texas State in Denton. Pleas define to which school you are referring.

I really like it for UTEP/ TX State.
PAC can have them next season for this $$$.

Sunbelt wont give TX St anymore $.
$5 million exit fee comes in handy
Does PAC want La-Monroe, etc ?

TX St needed much $ 4 stadium/ weight room side.
Double the $$$ ? in PSC helps.

UTEP just the right location for ONCE !
Stoked 4 them.
Locks in Sun Bowl down the line.

Looking around.
PAC offered the AAC schools @ $2.5 million (allegedly)
@ enough $$$ to cover long interest & fees on a exit fee loan.
Sweet deal if the move had been right.

Well there is only one Texas State University. If you read on twitter or anywhere, people just say Texas State and everyone knows who that is. Well almost everyone.

I have seen both schools referred to as “Texas State” on this board.

Kelvin Sampson is the reason UH is in the Big 12

Wazzu and Oregon state received viewership because they played power schools.

Take the P5 shine away and I’d like them to Tulsa.

I think UNT only goes by “North Texas”. Not “North Texas State”.

I’m pretty sure CKS helps but Tom Herman is the reason we are in the Big 12.

We all got to see what support UH Football COULD get on the biggest stage with the FSU, OU & Louisville games.

Well, he is “oldtimecoog”. :sunglasses:

I was in Houston a couple weeks back and still call some landmarks there by their old names. TCB Building, Transco Tower, Texaco Building, Enron Building, Tenneco Building, etc. Of course I’m usually talking with fellow older oil/gas guys like myself.

I hear you, @OldtimeCoog !

UNT, NTSU, TxSt, SWT
 all equally terrible.

UH was rejected by the Big 12 in 2016, when Tom Herman was still the coach.

UH Basketball is why we are in the Big 12.

UNT is a system like UH is. I known there is a UNT Dallas and it competes in the NAIA.

Come on
that 2026 expansion play was a dog and pony show for UT to squeeze out more money from ESPN and it WORKED!

Tilman even commented that it was all a front
that the presentation wasn’t even in front of the decision makers.

Basketball isn’t why we got the bump up
Football drives the bus.

UH- NY6 Bowl Victory
UC- Playoff Appearance
UCF- NY6 Bowl Victory

FIFY.

Even Pezman is on the record with that.

The Big 12 REJECTED Herman’s UH back in 2016.

FIFY.

See above.

They’re probably wondering the same thing about Houston & the O&G/Energy industry lol

yeah
stop assigning me to quotes I didn’t say.

The Big 12 expansion play in 2016 was a front to get the Longhorns more money from ESPN as in “we WILL expand if you don’t give us what we want”

The Longhorns got what they wanted.

As I’ve predicted, they will take the best pieces from the M2 (Big 12 & ACC) and form a 48 school P2 (two (2 x 12) 24 school conferences).

Technically it’s Fertitta & his political buddies

but in terms of Athletics, yes, it was probably solely CKS & his Basketball program that helped propel us into the Big 12.

Sure, the 2015 Football season achievements might’ve looked nice on a video clip/Power Point presentation, but political maneuvering is what ultimately got us in

Ironic, considering how we got left out initially, huh?
