Yes. Serious back issues in golf are often career ending injuries or at best/worst greatly limit golfer’s potential. I was in the business for 13 years or so. What did it for me (never great) was my rotator cuff. Love the game but how so cruel. You need to play a minimum of two rounds a week to be decent. You need time, lots of time.
It’s been so long ago and I don’t remember which venue it was, but Freddy was in first place after a couple of days and was on the driving range and his back froze up on his backswing and he had to literally be carried off the range. His game has suffered ever since, especially when it’s cold and wet.
He is my favorite golfer and I always pull for him, though I understand his best days are behind him. He has a couple more shots at the Masters and I would love for him to make 2 more cuts – and let me dream here – and even win one for the ages.
