Lots of new faces of course. Mainly all freshman pitchers that pitched. Good and bad. Keeping the older and seasoned pitchers for A&M next week. Not sure who they will throw or use Sunday . I assume all very short use.
Hitting was colder than expected. Lots of watched strikes. Some good shows by a couple of players. Lone homerun in night by San Jacs big first baseman. Many didn’t play just yet for various reasons. Injuries , and transfer rules possibly. Should see more kids getting opportunities Sunday.
Only 3 opportunities to get out and see some action. D1 by rules just can’t do that much in fall.
That’s not a good sign. I saw them play San Jac in 2008. The Coogs won easily, double digits I think, and the 2009 squad wasn’t one of Noble’s better teams.
Times have changed a bit with transfer portal and road to mlb /minors. So many kids spending time in Juco and it’s a good thing. Playing much more etc. and players of high level. Our area being San Jac and Blinn have quality players that can and will play D1 or skip to draft.
Not saying that UH pitching is in question. Just saying the competition of San Jac is highly reputable and will compete in these scrimmages.
