Don't get scammed by fake QR codes at parking lots

This isn’t really new as it has happened in the Houston and maybe Galveston areas in the last few years.

Such a slick scam. It would be so easy to
implement at unattended parking sites with pay on exit gates. Place a professional looking sign above the reader with option to save a $1 by using the QR code and avoid the card transaction fees. Of course it doesn’t have to open the gate, just give a feedback splash screen after taking the money that says QR service temporarily unavailable , please use card reader. I’d probably fall for it.

I don’t even think they have to include a fake discount to get people to fall for. It.

Probably true about that.

But I’m probably the low hanging fruit for discount scams :frowning:

Just used one last week and didn’t even give it a second thought. I will next time!
