Direct TV drops ESPN

Glad I have cable.

Only had direct TV once for about a year when I lived in Kansas.

I only had it once….and I’d NEVER get it again.

This stuff happens all the time when the carriage contracts expire CBS and the CW were pulled for a time in the past 2yrs over the same issues.

You can still see the game Saturday if you are an ESPN plus subscriber you just have to watch on the app if this doesn’t get worked out by the weekend.

Hopefully. I have ESPN+ and was blocked from watching the FSU-BC game last night on either the app or online because of some blackout rule or something. Didn’t make any sense.

My only choices are DTV Stream or Fubo if I want to watch the Astros, so I’ll give them a week or two to figure it out before switching.

The best thing to do is to get old fashioned corded cable with the biggest sports package, combined with an Apple TV box hard wired to high-speed non-Wi-Fi internet via Ethernet and an ESPN+ app.

That’s what I have.

Do it that way, and you’ll never miss the game of your choice.

Do it any other way, and there will always be a chance you’ll miss the game.

It may be “the best thing” for you, but it’s not an option for me and lots of other people. Besides, I quit using cable 20+ years ago and still never miss it, even with a little hiccup now and then.

You realize that cable companies can get into carrier disputes, too, right?

I have ESPN + and I watched it on the Spanish feed

Channel 13 is not airing at present. Guess I’ll have to go back to Cash Cab for my Jeopardy! fix.

If you have this issue with a streaming service, you can just cancel and move to another one. No sweat.

I haven’t had cable or satellite in like 15 years.

I was in the same boat. I’ve had DirecTV for over 10 years with the sports package. When I wanted to watch the FSU BC game, I was greeted with that black screen of contract negotiations. I told myself, no biggie, I have ESPN+…Blocked there as well. Lame.

I’m sure they’ll get it all sorted out sooner or later, but I’m looking at alternative options. Quite honestly, every alternative option is going to cost less than my current DirecTV subscription. I just like the convenience of DirecTV, no other option comes close to DirecTVs sports package.

Thats weird because I watched LSU-USC Sunday night with ESPN PLUS with no issues.

I was able to watch LSU USC, but I want to say it was through an antenna, I believe it was broadcast on ABC.

I moved in May and never set cable or anything back up at the house. Prime and Netflix and hbo max because I have att wireless plan that includes it from like 6 years ago. I just signed up for YouTube tv for 4 months at $50 a month. Watched all the games on fs1, fs2, the espns and networks. Will cancel in January. There is nothing on cable but commercials.

Yeah, there was something specific to that FSU game that I never figured out.

The only two choices I have that get me Astros and Rockets are DTVStream and Fubo. I know I can switch back and forth, but since Fubo doesn’t carry any Turner networks, March Madness would be a problem. I’ve also heard some complaints about Fubo’s stream quality at times.

It funny how we get all ruffled when there’s a game or two that aren’t available - growing up, we were lucky to get to watch ANY game of interest, much less all of them.

First world problems.

I have Fubo. I was able to watch March Madness games on Max.

Ah - good to know. I’m kind of averse to adding yet another streaming service on top of the other stuff, but at least that give me an option if DTV doesn’t get it worked out soon.

“DirecTV’s offer to fix the issue? A $20 credit to its customers during the blackout.”

That dog is not going to hunt with most customers.

Yeah, I tried to get that and got stonewalled.

I’m not sure how our game will go on Saturday, but if I can’t watch it on ESPN+… :rage:

Just keep rotating through streaming services and take advantage of the free trials until DTV and ESPN gets it worked out.
