Because social progressivism disrupts economic prosperity, that’s why.
The concept of “socially liberal, fiscally conservative” which is the viewpoint of many centrist democrats is really just a translation for “I will support social justice until it costs me money”.
If you suddenly end antisemitism in its entirety in America, then there would essentially be no barriers for American taxes to continue flowing to Israel. These taxes, are also being paid for by black and brown people, who are already under economic hardship from historically racist policies.
How can you expect any oppressed demographic in America to perpetually support a demographic of people that is, IN THEIR PERSPECTIVE, oppressing another demographic (Palestinians) with their own tax dollars
I’m not trying to start an argument about why that isn’t the case because that’s not the point. Everyone is aware of slavery. Everyone is aware of civil rights. Yet black people are still the most economically oppressed people in America. Jews, on the other hand, are not.
You’re said you didn’t understand why I think things will never change, and i just told you.
Why should black and brown people (including Black/Hispanic/Arabian/Muslims) care about antisemitism? What good does that do for them?
I myself, a Hispanic, have to have a reason to have any vested interest in supporting Israel. I do, largely because, without Israel, the Middle East region would be even more unstable. Instability in the Middle East, impacts the United States’ global economic control, which then impacts me and you.
Everything is mostly about self-interest, and I’m not necessarily angry about any demographic that perpetuates black issues
It’s hard to fight back against a economic system that’s been shoved down our throats since the beginning of America. Unless you are incredibly wealthy, the majority of Americans do not have the ability to truly support black progression.
“I don’t think anyone who isn’t black cares about Black Lives Matter.” “that most people who are socially liberal only support social progression until it comes at a cost”
“Unless you are incredibly wealthy, the majority of Americans do not have the ability to truly support black progression”
That’s your first post vs the second. The second post softened the first one a bit.
The incredibly wealthy have the ability, but that doesn’t mean they will

I moved this because I wanted to keep the thread about antisemitism and avoid tangents.

I know you said “most people” and not all people. I feel it is worth bringing up instances of where the cost did not stop the support. The first one that comes to mind…
The murders of James Chaney, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Schwerner. A black man, and two Jewish men were killed trying to register black voters in Mississippi.
These three men, only one of which was black, did this at the cost of their lives. However, Jews did not give up the fight for the civil rights amendment when it clearly had a cost. They continued to match with MLK and took similar action in their communities.
Hey, You moved my comment from your other thread to start a new thread but it now looks like I started this topic which I didn’t. You did. I was responding to a comment in your thread. You want to start a new topic why not just start one with your initial comment and not someone else’s. Not a cool move.

You responded to a comment from 3rd ward, not me. His discussion was a bit different than the original topic and I thought it ended. Then you brought it back up. I will go look for the other posts and move them too.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to make it look like you started the discussion.
“I myself, a Hispanic, have to have a reason to have any vested interest in supporting Israel.” Although, I can see where you’re coming from, Israel is our only Ally in that region. We must stand with Israel.
