Tell that to mad cows u located in Austin Chris.
Every probation coincides to kill any momentum that we had.
Without these orchestrated probation we might be in the sec already…for years if not decades.
The biggest mistake Mr. Yeoman made was to believe mad cows u located in Austin and go to the SWC instead of going to the sec.
These orchestrated probations have been devastating to our program.
I had just graduated from UH when our SWC invite occurred.
There was no SEC invite. Zero. Do not recall articles in The Post or Chronicle saying that UH had a SEC invite, but chose SWC over The SEC.
Our Alums and students were ECSTATIC over The SWC invite. And it was approved by our President and BOR, not Coach Yeoman. That is like saying Guy Lewis approved it.
We now are in a great Big 12 conference. We should enjoy it.
As I’ve said before, the three biggest realignment lies told on coogfans.com:
a) UH is being “vetted” by the B1G.
b) UH “almost joined” the SEC; it’s true that we tried more than once, but in NO case was an invite ever received, and
c) UH is “negotiating” to join the PAC.
I’m sorry, are you a current member of the Board of Regents and know, with 100% certainty, that NONE of those are accurate?
Is Tilman Fertitta posting as uhlaw97??
Our attendance has always sucked. Royal wanted UH in the Big 12. Broyles & Nealy were adamant against. It wasn’t until Nealy left Rice was Royal able to convince Broyles to vote them in.
Yes and in retrospect the sec wanting us was the turn we did not take.
What better way to control the Nation’s best recruiting area while having U of H in the SWC.
The mad cows u located in Austin teamed up with the ncaa and produced an oh so timely probation against us.
Houston area fans are fickle. You impede/slash tires the football program? What do you think is going to happen?
Every probation had one clear intent. Squash any momentum that we had. This Chris has a monumental impact on attendance.
Let me tell you how each lie got started:
a) about 5-10 years ago, somebody posted on here that UH was being “vetted” by the B1G. He claimed he had heard that from someone inside the athletic department. When asked who that was, he suddenly went top secret “secret squirrel” …“I can’t tell ya” on us. BULLCRAP!!! For all we know, you could have heard that from the janitor!!! Of course, it was baseless nonsense. We were much farther from being AAU back then than we are today, and it is well-known that the B1G doesn’t even SNIFF…much less “vet” any school that isn’t AAU. In the most recent round of realignment, a list of schools that the B1G actually had vetted was published. UH was NOT one of them.
b) No one disputes that UH attempted to join the SEC on more than one occasion. First in the 50s…denied!!! Perhaps again in the late 60s/early 70s, but by then, the push was more for the SWC. Apparently in the early 90s UH and aTm approached the SEC, but again, NO INVITE!!! If you never had an invite in hand…then you NEVER “almost joined” the SEC.
c) A couple of dudes claimed this was going on right after we joined the Big 12. One guy claimed he had heard it from some rich donor; if true, that rich donor didn’t know what he was talking about. Another claimed that the fact that we had hosted the PAC-12 swim meet was proof of our negotiations. That was crap, of course. We hosted it because California’s stupid COVID rules forced them to move the event. Truth be told, it takes a public vote by the Board of Regents to give the Prez the power to negotiate a conference move. That happened for the Big 12. It NEVER happened for the PAC, and thank GOD for that! Had we joined the PAC, we’d be left behind with Califord, Wazzu, and Oregon State once the biggest brands all left for the B1G.
Enough with your lies law. You have no idea what you are writing about. This has been documented plenty of times. The sec was clearly interested in having UH join them. UH only wanted the SWC. sec opponents were so impressed that they made the case for us. Do you in your right mind think that the sec would give an official invite without knowing for certain we wanting in? Think about that law. It is not too hard to understand why the sec never officially invited us. Furthermore I can’t remember if this was Tennessee or not but a major sec program put their veto because of the recruiting threat that we represented.
FIFY.
If the SEC were ever interested, then they would have issued an invite.
This NEVER happened.
Even if the 50s, when we made our strongest push, we came up a vote short.
Likewise, no invite in the 60s/70s, early 90s, OR ANY OTHER TIME.
Lack an invite…then don’t claim that they were interested.
Your memory is faulty.
In the 50s, we strongly pushed for membership, but fell a vote short of getting an invite.
That’s the closest we EVER got.
Keep trolling law. Ignore all you want and keep posting false assumptions. You have do it multiple times…and you keep doing it.
lawtroll is your new moniker.
They aren’t false assumptions.
They are FACTS.
This bit about SEC making a push for us is a “false belief.” It’s the other way around. WE pushed to join the SEC more than once.
NEVER went anywhere.
Keep trolling lawtroll.
I’ll keep speaking the truth, and dispelling the lies!
You have no clues about U of H history. U of H itself wanted the SWC at all cost.
Deny all you want that the sec was interested. What’s your motives for denying that lawtroll?
You want people to think you know UH history. you clearly have no clues and again what the motives?
I will. And I deny it for good reason: because if they were interested, then they would have issued us an invitation to join.
My motivation? How about the motivation to state factual truth?
If the SEC never issued us an invite (which is a FACT), then it is factually UNtrue to say that the SEC ever had any serious interest in UH.
If you don’t believe me, then listen to TucsonCoog, who was there in that very era.
You are a troll law and you just proved it…again with:
“if they were interested they would have given us an invite”
U of H never wanted the sec. We wanted the SWC PERIOD. Why would the sec give us an invite if we were not interested? Are you that much of a troller? The answer will be you are indeed a troll.
NOT true.
We did indeed attempt to join the SEC in the 1950s.
We failed.
You need to go back and read this.
You are a troll and here is why:
Post on how Mr. Yeoman and U of H wanted the SWC. This was their goal all along. Are you going to deny that too? Go ahead post it.
I didn’t deny that.
Yeoman and the admin switched their interest to the SWC over the SEC beginning in the 60s.
Yeoman wasn’t coach here during the 50s when the biggest UNSUCCESSFUL push for the SEC took place.
An SEC move was again brought up in the early 90s (see the news clipping from the link I showed you), again…NO INVITE!!!
