Big 12 / SEC / B10 Expansion Thread (Part 2)

Looks as though Clemson and FSU had more clout than ND!

Just love it!

We have Utah and Arizona fighting on OUR Board!

What in the world will happen once we play them!?

2024 should be wild!

Can’t blame FSU and Clemson, they know ND will be bounce as soon as they think it benefits them to and the ACC gets stuck with 2 outlier schools nobody wants for FB in their conference and have to go to the other coast to play. Knew that dog wasn’t going to hunt first time I heard the news, it made no sense to have them in the conference
none.

I was joking lol

The narrative sure has changed.

1996 - The SWC breaks up - This happened because all of the schools were cheating and it serves them right the cheater cheater pumpkin eaters.

2023 - The Pac breaks up - This happened because of all the greed and the system is broken. Won’t anyone think of the poor Stanford and Washington State’s of the world.

Give me a break, I don’t feel sorry for anyone and I don’t pine for the all the history of the Pac 8-12. No one gave a damn about us and no one cared about the demise of the SWC. Houston and TCU climbed out of the hole we were in and now we are someone again. Bully for us.

Their option is independence, and by all accounts, Stanford can afford to do it.

The only other option I see is some new Ivy league plucking some like-minded institutions and put it on Apple. Stanford, Cal, Rice, Tulane and build from there. Rice may be good to throw in the towel. I’m not sure Tulane is there.

One thing is for sure.

This completely VINDICATES what I’ve been saying all along about Stanford having one of the smallest brands in college sports.

It doesn’t matter how strong your academic brand is, nor how strong your brand may be in non-revenue sports, nor even the market you may be in or near.

In the realignment game, it’s all about football and (to a much lesser extent) basketball brand size.

Stanford’s brand sizes, as I’ve said all along, are VERY small.

Minuscule fan base and following.

When you have an alumni base that is both small and truly doesn’t care about their school’s teams, this is what happens.

I was fine with letting them in the Big 12 for the added academic clout, but the money people all see this differently.

Stanford did not add value to the ACC.

I hope that Stanford can get used to being the “Road Warriors” of college football.

Perhaps they can join the WCC for other sports.

Stanford got their answer from the ACC.

It was “No.”

Shocking, Florida State wants more money and the conference decided to not add schools that were not going to add more money to the conference. Shocking.

It also didn’t make any sense for traveling

UCF now has 8, 4 stars to our 1, SMU has 2 per Rivals who I find the most reliable. Time will tell. We’re second to dead last current in the Big.

8 ****, that’s a shite load. CDH needs to step up his game in one of the richest recruiting grounds in the country.

That’s funny!

Everyone but holgy is stepping up their game in our backyard.

All of our direct competitors too.

CDH has tons of 4-star excuses. He’s top notch in that game.

That goes a long way with Pez, Tillman and some Coogfans.

but but but
there are a lot of scary schools like LSU, UT, Aggy, OU, and even TCU, BU, TT, Nebraska, Arkansas, OSU, and now Colorado that we have to compete against in our own backyard. Plus even in-state schools like UTSA and SMU might give us a run for our money in recruiting.

Time to crawl up in our hole and make excuses about why something can’t happen. No need to try to grind for the very best players we can get, after all, that transfer portal is always full and we can easily select some disgruntled players a la carte off it.

CDH and Pez are 5 star experts at running around scared, making excuses, and then getting defensive about it.

More whining, moaning, groaning and gnashing of teeth about how bad CDH is and truth be told, there aint nothin’ you can do about it except give yourself indigestion.

No, we’re going give him indigestion , he goes below .500 for the season, be time to show Mr Holgersen the door, yes the knives are out for him and he knows it.

Now to change the subject https://thespun.com/more/top-stories/arizona-state-sorority-is-going-viral-ahead-of-football-season

None of what you said changes a single word of how ungrateful and petty a chunk of your fans are toward the move, toward BYU getting Big12’d first, etc.

Arizona initiated the Pac8 move and dragged ASU kicking and screaming, just like we did this time with kid brother again, and their ungrateful neighbor to the north, Utah. It was you’re mouthy Athletic Director caught by freezing cold takes exposed laughing off reports of Big12 talks, saying it would never happen.

Maybe your uppity fans should be thanking Arizona for a invitation to the life raft, because many Big12 fandoms think you all think your sh*t don’t stink.

Maybe practice some of that humility your post beggars of me, because while I have talked up Utah in this thread many times, from origins in 1990s basketball to recent football success, you still needed the Pac10 to pluck you up and elevate you, and, you needed that nothing special historically program in Arizona, to make sure you weren’t lost to the ethers because of your own moronic pride.

As I said, several times in this thread, you were an excellent addition to the Big12, once you allowed Arizona to help you get out of your own damn way.
