AP Top 25: UH is #2 for Week of March 17th - Final AP Regular Season Poll

I don’t think anyone’s completely ignoring them but those losses don’t completely offset their good wins either. Same thing was true for us our last year in the American when we lost to Temple at home. KP rates Memphis’ non-conference SOS 3rd in the country. Thats above every P5 team. They deserve their props for playing that schedule and doing well on it.

Rankings in January mean exactly squat. I am OK with where UH is. The rankings are meaningless until the seeds for “The Dance” If UH wanted to be ranked higher maybe UH shouldn’t lose to ranked teams on TV?

It’s almost like I’m not comparing us losing to Auburn to them winning against UNT. I’m saying that they have better wins than us. You can dog them for scraping by UNT all you want but they still beat Ole Miss, UConn, Miss. St., Mich. St. and are 5-2 in Quad 1 overall.

And there lies the issues. Losing should matter. I don’t care if you have three quad wins if you have also lost to three Q 3-4 teams or narrowly.
It is like A&M complaining a few years ago because they had a few good wins but finished the season with a 7 game losing streak in the 2nd half.
Point is a team should not keep rising after needing the last minute to beat UNT and ECU.
Now a loss to Temple is three really bad games in a row by top 20 standards.

It’s not three Quad 1 wins. It’s 5. And they have one Quad 2 loss and one Quad 3 loss. No Quad 4 losses. Losing has mattered for them just like it has for us but it seems you don’t want to give them any credit for their wins. I’m not going to throw shade at a team when they’re sitting at 5-2 in Q1 while we’re 0-3 even if I think we’re a massively better team and program.

North Texas isn’t even bad. They’re top 60 in the NET and have been a tough out for a while now. The ECU win was a weak performance but back in our final four year we lost to ECU by 10+ and dropped like 1 spot in the AP poll. More or less the same thing with Temple. After all they were the last team to beat us at home (2023) and they were even worse rated that year. We still ended up as a 1 seed. If Memphis keeps under performing in conference it will catch up to them but they’re impressive non-conference has earned them some grace.

Okay. Defending their last three games means you have missed the point. It’s not that they shouldn’t have been ranked it is they shouldn’t have risen in the rankings after those two close calls. That with the Temple game should have been enough to move them out along with the Arky State debacle.

They aren’t being ranked in a vacuum. Whether they move up or down is contingent on how other teams around them in the rankings fair. So it’s fairly obvious that a team that wins both their games in a given week is going to gain points just by holding serve. And the Temple game was literally last night with Gary Parrish who does daily rankings dropped them 3 spots this morning. So considering they will have a drop incoming, how big dependent on their game on Sunday, in the AP poll next week, I’m not sure what exactly your gripe is about.

If we had a shaky week but still got 2 Ws and voters punished us by moving us down the rankings the meltdown and caterwauling on this board would be beyond unbearable and some of y’all would be certifiable and checked into a psych ward. Let’s try to be consistent and rational.

With the status the Coogs have achieved in CBB World the last 6+ yrs among media, Committee, etc, its beyond me why some worry in January what one or two Basketball writers thk abt the UH program. Have a good year in BIG12 CONF play n everything takes care of itself. Whether that’s a 2, 3, 4 seed…
It’s for sure never going to be perfect, n for sure will always have couple individuals off on certain teams than where the majority might have them ranked. What I know is, it’s not just the Coogs that get that disparity. Just being the 1 that Coogs followers will notice the most or only one they will prob know abt. or notice .

On another note it’s best to be Mountaineers fans over next few weeks w exception of 1 gm of course. They fell to 33 in NET. So as of today the Coogs are back to ZERO Q1 Wins!

I like Gary Parrish. He is no Andy Katz or Jeff Goodman lol

Btw, Goodman got a little roasting on Twitter/X today that was funny

@TacoCoog the defense for Tugler, Evan Miya has at 4.58 score. Elite

The offense for Tugler he has at 3.64, which is similar to Hunter Dickinson (3.95) and Michigan’s Danny Wolf (3.49)

Danny Wolf averaging 13ppg at 58%shooting

I would need to understand that offense calculation a bit better tbh

His ranking is looking at the team’s performance while player is on the floor in addition to predictive analysis of the player’s stats. Evan Miya’s ranking is trying to measure who was most impactful not simply who is the “best” player as Goodman took it. The way we offensive rebound and shoot the 3, it makes sense how such a metric values having Tugler on the floor.

No foul lmao?

#7 Marquette loses at home

#8 Kentucky loses at home

Coogs moving up in the AP poll

Bama losing to Ole Miss, but winning at Kentucky. They probably dont drop in the polls

Some of these teams at the top have a good cushion. Their resume. They could take 2 losses, and in my opinion, shouldn’t drop out of the top 10

Not at all! We didn’t cover at home against West Virginia and we scraped by a lowly UCF team. Definitely should be getting punished and dropping in the polls, right? RIGHT?? /s
