63 Newbies

Coach has a roster with 63 players who were not here last year.
I thought we would be better, howeve I did see some good things:

  1. Defense really only gave up about 17 points. And they were out there a LOT on short fields.
    1. Tackling was better.
  2. I could at least see what we were trying to do in the run game…but seemed like each decent run had an accompanying holding call
  3. Talented returners

The O Line probably did not have a person tstarted a game last year. They missed so many blitz pickup.
We need someone mobile or who can make a D pay for a blitz. Every team knows if you pressure Smith he will make mistakes.

Our D was a little bit better than I had expected, but our OLine was even worse than I expected, and I already expected it to be bad, so that’s saying something.

Deion Sanders tried winning with a similar brand new roster of hired guns and failed, so that’s obviously a tough way to win.

And Sanders kids is a major stud, super quick QB who escapes pressure. QB Sanders still got battered this week against ND State.

When you don’t have an O-line that can pick up a blitz then you better have someone at QB that is super mobile (Chriss) or can find the open guy and make the D pay for blitzing(don’t know if we have that guy, but won’t know unless Ale or someone else is given a chance…

From our view, few, if any receivers were really open . . . . . and if any were, the ball did not get close . . . . .

Not quite. Demetrius Hunter started at center against Oklahoma St. last year.

When I watched replay (self torture) I saw a mix so not one thing to fix. There was atrocious blocking especially from middle allowing inside blitzes, QB locking onto targets when others were uncovered, and WR/TEs running routes on top of each other… crossing fingers they all get fixed quickly

Everyone knows to blitz Smith up the middle. He is not a good roll out passer.
