22-23 Schedule Speculation, Confirmation, etc

Yup. Teams will get 20+ Q1 games in the new look B12 especially if conference decides to add more conference games

We are the new kids on the block and the existing B12 teams will have their preference over newbies. The teams in Texas want to keep their in state partners as long as they can. So looking at the landscape, TT, BU, TCU, and UT have their lots set. The same goes for other states with multiple B12 teams, so then OU-OSU and KU-KSU are set. That leaves WV and ISU to match up with incomers. It’s a no brainer that WV would choose Cincy which is a short distance away and they have a long history together. Understandably, ISU would rather BYU than UCF. That leaves UH and UCF. We weren’t jobbed, just a victim of circumstances.

We are going to have plenty of challenges in the conference so I am just fine getting a couple of the lower level teams twice.

When do we expect the '22-'23 schedule to drop? Ready to get games in my calendar.

non conference - when all the noncon games are signed (so anytime)- but it could be a while with no MTE…
conference games- home and away matchups sometime late july, actually dates likely in september

we announced the noncon is august last year…but we’ll know all the major games on an individual game basis before that through media people leaks

Beating a team on a neutral court by 15 is a pretty good thrashing.

What does MTE stand for?

Noncon tournament basically …
we have 13 noncon games - but 2 to 5 games are normally part of a Tournament (or round robin nuetral)… it doesnt seem like we’ll be part of one this year

It’s normally in July when we get our schedules, so likely July 1 to August 15 this year.

Thanks, I wondered about that as well.

The athletic department can immediately start now the plans for an alternative use of tickets for the UCF game, whether it be for schools and/or other youth groups, to make sure our turnout is as it should be as a reflection of support for the team and program since the gray seaters will have plenty of excuses to not show for that one.

“Oh dear, what if my “friends” at the country club see me on TV attending such a game of undesirables?”

“Last game against this particular educational institution they cooked my filet mignon to medium-well and not medium as I ordered. It was the most horrid experience of my life.”

Well maybe our students could actually show up and over fill the student section and then carry over to the gray seats?

They’d need to fix the ticketing system for that.

And buzz it very well.

I’d love a students only game though.

In aggregate, could this be the worst home schedule in UH history for baseball, football, and basketball in consecutive seasons? What a way to end the time in the AAC.

starting to believe you might be right.

From the garage? Multiple as in 1? And then you have to wait for fans to cross Holman before you can take a left or right. It’s a complete sh*tshow bottleneck.

What they should do is build a skywalk bridge from the 2nd level so fans can spit out on arena side without having to cross the street that would fix the bottleneck getting out of the garage rather quickly.

You have multiple options from the garage - 2.

I actually think we need 2 bridges, if I’m spending someone else’s money. The one crossing Holman is a no-brainer, but there’s also a lot of foot traffic crossing Cullen closer to the baseball field. The tough thing is that these aren’t really needed very often, so it’s hard to justify the cost, compared to paying officers to just direct traffic for a few minutes.

Good point on the sky bridge coming from the parking by the Arts District to cross Cullen.
