2023 Transfer Portal

A big man and a shooter is what we need and have room for.

Let’s get it!

As of right now we only have room for one so have to decide between big man or smaller shooter.
If someone else leaves then we have room for one more.

I thought we had an extra ship open already?

we’re losing 4 and bringing in 3 but thought we had an extra leaving (2) open?

If we get anyone through the portal the choice will likely surprise us. The spitballing about it however, is fun. A big or a shooting guard? Somebody with good handles or better on D and the boards?

It’s like a box of Crackerjacks, gotta look inside to find out what prize you got.

I’m way ahead of myself but I’m super excited for the following season with MERCY!

I know right now he may not be seen as a one and done….but if he takes his game to the next level his senior year who knows….selfishly I hope we have him for at least two years.

Looking ahead that will be a big year bringing in new guys most likely.

This is just my opinion and should not be take by some posters as gospel on my part….therefore TWO years from now if it does not come to fruition please don’t waste your time digging in the past to find something I said did not materialize….and then post it to say I have no credibility……

I think this will be my signature from now on for the stupid people.

If Roberts got hurt or in foul trouble with these bigs we would be in BIG trouble. It’s not smart to go into the the first big 12 season banking on 3 freshman and a player who hasnt really played meaningful minutes against a good team in his career. We 100% HAVE to get a big. Mark, Wilson, Shead, Ramon are all upper class men. Sharp and TA are top 100 players with a lot of talent. Our guard group would still be one of the best in the country.

The Athletic has a great portal section

Other than Sharp which one of our guards can shoot ??? TA can long term but he hasn’t prove it.

Ideally it would be nice if we could add a vet big and a guard that can shoot but unless someone transfers out we only got room for 1.

I love your political answers. You should run for office and be the next Obama

Is it possible they want this so J’wan can actually move to a stretch 4 and start shooting the 3s we see him draining in practice?

Playing devil’s advocate… But Roberts hasn’t ever shot a 3 pt in a game (buzzer beater heaves don’t count) in his first 3 or so years here. Do you expect him to take that big of a leap and start hitting them at a consistent clip. Even Fabian had attempted some before his last year and had a decent mid range. Roberts has strictly been an inside the post scorer!

They say FT percentage is a good indicator of 3 pt shooting in the future. Walker shot 34% from 3 and 66% from FT line.
J’wan actually shot better from Ft line with 68+%, but he didn’t take a single three. I think this was so he could be positioned under the basket for rebounds. If someone else takes on that role I think he would take some 3 pt shots and could make them at a decent enough clip to stretch the floor.
What I’d really like to see is for us to get that Tennessee transfer… but that’s a slightly different topic.

Given that his our best option at center right now… I dont think hell be attempting that many 3’s coming up.

That’s why I said he would do that IF we got someone who could take over his role underneath the basket.

I would think that if UH is following someone’s twitter who is in the transfer portal from an AAC team, it carries slightly more weight than someone outside the AAC, simple because the UH coaching staff is more familiar with the player and can more easily project if they are a culture fit. Not an absolute, but something to watch for.

I think we need a big more than a perimeter player. All of our perimeter players have experience and they just have to get better in the off season as far as shooting and dribbling.

Our front court players lack experience outside of really Roberts. Francis has experience but he needs to be coming off the bench next year. We need an experienced big that can rebound and stretch the floor like Olivier but I would be fine with an interior scorer as well.
