Put a TYPICAL 5 on J’Wan at the perimeter and watch him get cooked…
ESPECIALLY, if he starts hitting 3s.
Until he proves otherwise, Francis will have to be used strategically to take advantage of the 5 fouls he’s destined to get virtually every outing. Unlike a poor free throw shooter who has great game otherwise, there is no amount of “other greatness” that can make up for the propensity to foul often and quickly. At this time, I don’t see Francis starting or putting in even 20 minutes/game. He will be more like a 10-12 minutes per game guy, especially if some of the other guys develop more quickly. This doesn’t mean Francis can’t be an important part of the team, just that coach really has to strategize how to use his fouls versus how to use his defense, offense, rebounding, etc.

dude fouled a ton, but he also got the most crazy phantom calls on him. probably because of his known fouling propensity. Hopefully he gets some of that slate cleaned in a new season. Just getting those phantom calls (obviously contingent on him getting somewhat better at not fouling) to evaporate will get him an extra 5-10 minutes a game

His slow feet make those bad calls easy to make.

Some concerns on here about stuff that won’t matter.
We will be smaller but not lacking in ability.
I love our depth, including the front court
We have three guys who can block shots and switch.

Before I got married I was told “ you can mess around, do what you need to do….but stick it out and don’t get divorced “

@NorCalCoog Just a note for future podcasts, we are full with 13 scholarship players. We only had 12 when Mylik was in the portal.

Unless staff has helped to keep Francis’ propensity to foul quickly at bay, I don’t know if it’s best to have him start. Perhaps it could depend on the type of team we play any given game. I just remembering him fouling so quickly when entering a game.

I hated it at the time but I was able to play four years of college ball, which led to me meeting my wife and having kids( son played four years in college as well)….
So I have wondered, if it had not been that way , would I have pushed as hard?
Never know……oh, and my wife is still smoking hot and I never felt the need to have a “side piece “ lol.
