Anyone hearing anything on him lately? I read where Virginia Tech may come knocking when Buzz Williams heads to TAMU. Also read Marquette has an interest in him as well.

Cincy is a good job for lot of reasons. Like CKS and us it’s a good fit. I think it would take an offer that’s not coming unless Cincy takes another step forward in tourney finishes. And that’s just fine with all parties involved.
Vtech and especially Marquette just doesn’t scream cash in big promotion to me. Vtech is like SEC football but with 2 Bamas.

Other ACC schools have gauged Cronin’s interest in leaving Cincinnati before. The cupboard isn’t bare in Bleaksberg so it would be a nice move or Cronin.

Problem is he’s had very limited tournament success at Cincy. Probably feeling a bit ‘Foster’ if you know what I mean.

Agreed but he makes $2.2MM. Perhaps he can make more and who knows? He may take a look at a 50% raise.
I understand everyone on this board would coach UH for $25K/yr but…
Cincy is in a big revitalization like UH. He just got a complete remake of the arena. Athletics has new facilities.
Why would he move? He wins the conference tourney every year or the conference.
In many ways he has the perfect setup.

He still has 5 tourney wins over the last 8 years. A bit rough to compare him to Foster. Not enough wins to be paid over $3 million a year though.

I think it depends on your perspective. The tourney is trying to have 6 great games in a row.
Getting to the tourney is an arduous task.
If Cronin were here with that record I would most definitely ask the university to do what they could to keep him.

IIRC, quite a few UC fans were talking about how they were getting tired of him after we beat them in Cincy and clenched the regular season title, granted it could of just been overreaction by some fans on a message board because they lost two games in a row, so who knows.
Cronin is a great coach. What he did with this years team was impressive. Like CKS, he emphasizes defense so his teams are always competitive. If some Cincy fans are tired of him I’m sure they’re in the minority. Probably just a few spoiled unrealistic fans that expect to be in the final 4 every year.
