You're Jim Crane, the off-season is here...go!

Allegedly, AJ knew about the cheating and either did nothing or was unable to stop it.

Luhnow was the organizational genius.

There are plenty of qualified dugout managers and few highly talented front office managers.

What the organization is lacking is Luhnow.

I think it was more about him struggling in the post season. During the season he looked fine. Last year Altuve struggled in the postseason.

To me the championship window is still wide open. But the rotation has to be upgraded. Verlander is old, Framber is inconsistent, Javier is inconsistent, Brown is still figuring it out, France was a nice story, and Urquidy is a 4-5 in a rotation at best.

I truly think Dusty knows his time is up and he will retire and that works out best all the way round,
Not sure what Maldy will do but he will either be gone or a possible backup to Diaz.
Should be a very interesting off season.

Folks, this is the smartest, most readable thread this forum has ever produced. Lots with which to agree, lots with which to disagree. Good stuff.

Brantley likely to retire and Maldonado is done….not under contract anymore and won’t be offered one.

I think we are in for wholesale changes. Going to be an interesting off season.

I doubt we get Hader unfortunately……one, he is going to get quite a bit of money and two, he and Pressly are both going to want to close.

But I agree, imagine if you had both?! Some how got them to buy in to sharing the role as some sort of two-headed monster.

I would actually enjoy watching Pressly set-up Hader. Pressly can go two innings. I don’t think its anything more than developing a rhythm.

Wouldn’t Maldonado be ideal to work the bullpen? I’d think he’d prefer to work with the team then retire or move.

He can’t be on the team otherwise JV and others are going to tell the new coach they want him catching them……we gotta get away from that.

It would be a sick combo but Pressly won’t do it….they both know closers are the ones that get paid and neither want to sacrifice saves.

If Maldy isn’t retiring, he would probably just sign with another team, right? Why would he be a bullpen catcher?

They aren’t bringing in another closer and if the closer changes on this team Bryan Abreau will be the guy.

I guarantee that if they could convince Hader to come here, they would and would figure out the logistics later. He would make this team better. They talked about getting him at the trade deadline but focused elsewhere instead.

D-Backs just knocked out Philly

Hader would be dynamite for the Astros. He is just better than Pressly.

The only hope that I can think of is that Strom is the D-backs pitching coach and he knows the Rangers. However, I think this could be an easy series for south oklahoma, unfortunately.

Crane needs to announce tomorrow the Maldy will not be retained. Send a message to that whole franchise. Your soft-asss crap ain’t gonna fly.

Chron: “but sir, why are you singling out one player whose contract is up?”

Crane: “STFU” (walks away)

Who the heck would want him? Lol Maldy may decide to come back just to piss off Astros fans. Remember, he runs that clubhouse!

If Yuli could find a way on a team, so could Maldy.
