Give me a remake of the 2011 jam by Paul Wall, Bun B, Slim Thug.
Larry Gatlin will not pump up those players, or the crowd, for that matter.

I remember the Cougar Brass in the Dome. It was fun trying to find them in such a large venue while they were playing. I don’t know if this is common practice in college football, but whether it is or not, I would like to see the Cougar Brass play at TDECU.
Bring back the “HOUSTON!!!” "COUGARS!!!’ chant.
This coming from someone that wants to do away with the Frontiersmen and any other long standing tradition we have left. I didn’t know who he was either until I googled around and the song came up, which I did recognized and would absolutely enjoy singing along to with a packed crowd. You guys have zero vision or idea for what a positive, enjoyable gameday atmosphere should include. What I’m suggesting is not unheard of. WVU plays John Denver at their games and everyone in the stadium joins in. It’s one of the coolest traditions in college football in my humble opinion. So instead of lobbying for the destruction of every single tradition we have, why don’t you make some real suggestions?
It is, but they’ve been doing it literally every game since the song came out. They didn’t shoehorn it in 40 years later after everyone had forgotten about it. See also: Dixieland Delight at Alabama, Rocky Top at Tennessee, Jump Around at Wisconsin, Enter Sandman at VT, etc.
FWIW, I said we should bring back Live Shasta.
This is for basketball, not football…
When the visiting team was introduced, students and some fans would have a copy of the Daily Cougar and acted like they were reading it, when the players name was called everyone yelled “WHO’S HE?” and go back to reading the paper.
When it was time to introduce the Cougars, everyone threw the newspaper in the air and celebrated.
I think the obstacle to that one is that the Daily Cougar is now digital-only. But last I checked, that one was still alive and they were printing up some sort of imitation newspaper for that purpose. It does seem like they only do it intermittently, though.
We literally only have “all about the Cougars”. I hate how dull our crowds be at the games. We only have 1 chant and only half of the crowd does it. Would like to see the DJ play more songs that people chat and sing to, that’s an easy way to get the crowd going and chanting. 2016 crowds used to be crazy, the whole stadium was rocking
I’d disagree with that assessment. Eat ‘Em Up, as ubiquitous as it is, is still ours. Hustlin’ is ours.
Realistically, most schools that are known for strong traditions have exactly one really good one. USC, Oklahoma, and Notre Dame would all be exemplars of that. I think we could absolutely let Womp Womp fill that void, if we could just fill the stadium.
Bring Shasta from the zoo, down to the field and let him play defense for a spell. Maybe.he’ll sack the opponents QB or more like. eat’em.
I remember in the Dome when the tromboners would randomly appear in different sections and play the Budweiser song. Always a crowd pleaser!
Live Cougar zoo enclosure on campus and humanely brought to games. If LSU and Memphis can do it with Tigers, I think it’s doable with a Cougar. I also want the “Houston Cougars” chant brought back. (Probably need a half full to full stadium though.
Didn’t it follow up with “She’s a scrub!”?
I agree the frontiersman have to go. To make it even more controversial, they always reminded me of the KKK. ::ducks under cover::
I do like the Houston cougars chant when it’s packed. Reminds me of some great games when we were fun to watch. I’ve been to all the games this season and it feels like going to the zoo. Fun in theory but hot, boring with bad food when I’m there.
I forgot all about the Budweiser song.
That WAS awesome.
Can you elaborate on how they remind you of a hate group? Pretty silly
“Another house cougars first down. Rawr rawr rawr rawr”
O Fortuna
Not losing at home
Yep…it did.
The KKK Really? This is Texas, guys in Stetson hats and dusters don’t in any way resemble the KKK. They’ve been a tradition since 48. Its time for them to go because they’re not wearing skinny jeans and drinking Soy Lattes? Dumbest F’n comment ever.
The Frontiersmen have been a tradition at UH for so long, I would leave them alone. I’ve always thought it was a quirky tradition to watch cowboy-clothed young men running in cowboy hats and boots carrying flags, but they have been around for decades and it would seem wrong to do away with the group.
