Could this be to keep certain guys on the team? 
Maybe Sampson is pulling a pitino and funding scholarships with NIL.

Itâs likely that they already know some guys are coming back and theyâre using this as an opportunity to market their NIL stuff. Canât knock it though I do agree with other users that I wish theyâd have gone with 1k instead of 10k. If for no other reason then the fact that 10k is large enough that you have to consult with your other half before making a move lol

We donât need 14 spots. Hard enough to keep 13 people happy that want to play. We had 2 redshirts last year. Thatâs reason we felt squeezed by injuries. Without those reshirts and injuries, probably some people looking to leave over playing time
In years where we know we are redshirting we doâŠ.
And if guys at the end of the bench choose to leave over playing time that is on themâŠ.
But itâs not just games, itâs having enough bodies to run full court in practice as well.
