Well said. The new DC worries me, having been relieved of his playing calling duties at his last stop.
Looked like it was in intensive care all season . . . . .
Our DC is an unknown quantity because play calling was taking away from him at UF. Why would you do that? What I liked about our previous DC is he had everyone focused on movement to where the ball is. Linebackers, DBās, Safeties shifting where the ball was moving too. Something as simple as that you could see the results.
No youāre not.
Rohan Jones to Arky.
Donāt have a lot left Iām monitoring outside of Edge. Norman, Evans. Or wait until Spring.
These edge guys that can get after the quarterback we are just going to have to develop. Too much demand for them in the transfer market.
Latreveon McCutchin, Christian Brathwaite, Carmycah Glass these guys that come in as Linebackers we have to make it a priority to see which of them have the potential and toolbox to use their speed power and athleticism to get to the quarterback. Thatās where the money and high draft pick potential is at anyways
We can bag on Applewhite and Danaās recruiting but they were able to find some quality pass rushers over the last 10yrs.
Lot of money down on South Beach
Beck, who walked onto campus flanked by a person affiliated with Miamiās name, image and likeness collective, is reportedly set to make $4 million to start at quarterback for Miami this coming season. But The Athletic has heard through multiple sources briefed on his recruitment the number heās set to receive from Miami channels is closer to a little over $3 million, roughly double the $1.6 million Heisman Trophy finalist Cam Ward earned through Miamiās collective (not including additional deals with Adidas, Bose and others) when he led the No. 1 scoring offense in college football this past season.
Iād take Cam Ward over Beck.
I will be honestā¦.i have only seen Beck play 4 times this yearā¦.all on TV.
I was not impressed.
I felt like he was careless with the ball and made poor decisions.
He was much better last year IMO.

Depth Chart Update following the Keionte Scott signing.
Key:
WHITE: Returning Players
GREEN: Incoming Transfers
D. BLUE: Early Enrollees
L. BLUE: Incoming Freshmen
PEACH: Walk Ons
[+]: Coming back from injury
Notes:
-
UH updated the official roster yesterday so we now have jersey #s for our early enrollees, as well as # changes for a bunch of guys.
-
In order to fit most players into the graphic, I had to add an extra row for the RB group. I have no idea how the snaps are gonna be shared between all of those guys.
-
Thereās a few guys who arenāt listed at their traditional position partly bc of the reason above, but mainly bc I think their skillsetsā fit the position I swapped them to. Plus, I donāt like the empty spaces lol.
-
I have Jacory Thurman listed as a fullback b/c Nagleās 3-TE package sometimes have 1 of those guys lined up in the backfield as a lead blocker. During the season, that role would likely go to Traville Frederick, but for the purpose of trying to include all scholarship players, combined w/ Excelās screenshot limitations, I chose Thurman to fill that last āRBā slot as a āFBā to get him onto the graphic.
-
Zion Taylor is no longer listed as an āedgeā on the official roster. Heās now labeled as a LB.
-
Freshman Tristan Jackson is listed on recruiting websites as a linebacker, but when I watch his film, I canāt help but notice just how natural he looks in coverage. Heās got DB-like hips, good speed, heās aggressive in the run game, & heās only 200 lbs. That skillset screams āAnchorā to me.
-
Austin Bice is a WR, but I have him listed at Safety bc I ran out of DBs & had 1 empty spot left. And since I donāt like empty spaces on my graphic, Bice gets plugged in. Besides, walk-ons mainly run the scout teams & practice in whatever position the coaches put need them in. Heāll get bumped out of the graphic the minute we sign another DB.
-
Lastly, Itās good to see several players have apparently put on some much needed weight. Although a couple of guys have come in waay lighter than expected, Iām not too worried as they have almost 9 months to get right.
Scott should be penciled in as a return man as well.
I thought about that, but assuming Scott is a regular starter on defense, in addition to the fact that we have a bunch of capable guys who can return kicks/punts, I just donāt see Scott doing both KR & PR. Besides, if Sneed doesnāt get many touches out of the backfield, giving him KR return duties could be somewhat of a consolation role for him to showcase his speed/agility & possibility convince NFL scouts that heās worth bringing into camp as a return specialist.
Also, Ridgle has a faster PR in the 100m than Scott & heāll be in a similar position as Sneed regarding his snaps on offense. Heās gotta compete for targets w/ Broussard, Thomas, Boogie, Young, Mews, three TEs, AND Dean Connors out of the backfield. I say let him & Stacy hold down the KR duties while Mews & Scott battle it out for the PR job.
Does anyone know the status on McMickle and Bowie? Will they be available for Spring practice?
Marcus Jones started at DB and returned kicksā¦.is Scott close to being that good on returns? If so then he should return.
If it is close between him and others then let someone else do it.
Thatās my philosophy anyway.
Is he close to being good?
Wellā¦.
Last year, he was on Athlonās pre-season all SEC team as a returner.
Thatās why I was surprised that Bobcat didnāt have him penciled in as a starter there.
Good job Mr. Bobcat. Very informative.
Is he close to being as good as Marcus was.
Itād be tough to be THAT good.
In 2023, he did average 14.8 yards per punt return though.
His stats were down in 2024. Whether it was because of injury, or some other reason, Iām not too sure.
But there can be little doubt that he has ENORMOUS potential as a return man.
