Caleb Mills transferred at the beginning of 2021, iirc.
According to the media guide, Mills played here “2018-19 (RS), 19, 20.” That’s exactly how he’s listed.

Mills came in at the start of the 2nd semester as an early HS graduate. Of course red shirted that season.
He contributed his RS FR season.
Started the his Sophomore season coming off a fall injury. He struggled on the court then covid hit and he left us mid season.

If they could do it again Brison stays - the coach that first recruited him was at TSU and it was seamless but teams ain’t letting 6-9 shot blockers walk away 
My understanding was that he was referring to “rotation” players i.e. top 10 on the roster.
That’s my line of thinking. I don’t think we would ever have taken Mills back either.
But like you pointed out, the feelings probably stretched in both directions.

I didn’t understand the fascination with Rohde. IMO, that’s not the kind of guard we should be targeting. No loss there.
If they want to compensate the players why don’t they sell the teams to potential investors and keep a 10%.That way the teams that lose players will be compensated
