I agree that they should sell Jordan brand normally, they do sell a few pieces but nothing consistent. Unfortunately, I think it is a Nike/Jordan issue that the school has no control over.
However if it is just quality you’re looking for, that is available from Nike and other brands.
Yeah I’ve found plenty of great gear, Columbia being the nicest polos honestly, but it would just be nice to have access to the Jordan gear that our top 5 basketball program wears. I know I’m not alone. I think that stuff would sell out faster than anything on the shelves currently.
Unfortunately our school/athletics department has made a habit of missing out on really good licensing and merchandising opportunities on soft goods, etc over the years. Other schools seem to make really attractive shirts, caps, polos including the Jordan line readily available to the average fan but we can’t seem to do that effectively to the detriment of our fans and to our branding. I would like to buy more UH gear but most of it looks crappy or boring to me and fans aren’t going to buy stuff just to have it sit in their closet bc they don’t really like it just to support the school. I hope with a new AD, the merch licensing effort becomes much more aggressive with much more attractive options.

I really think you’re giving too much of the blame here on the athletic department. They certainly could do more but the manufacturers and the corporate buyers have a lot to do with what is available.
Also, you’re always going to have people complain about stuff that they think is ugly or boring. Taste isn’t universal. In fact on this thread, someone complained about the first hat I posted as being ugly, yet currently a little over 100 people have clicked the link.
Also I think one side effect of the rise of fanatics is more homogenization. More and more department stores use fanatics as their online provider, when they may have other items in store.
I don’t know if it’s the athletic department or not. I’ve heard we don’t have a good marketing deal. i don’t know if that’s true or an excuse. But when I look at some websites and see the number of G5 schools represented and not see UH, it is incredibly frustrating.

Happens OFTEN! See something online you really like then you scroll through the available University branding and there’s everybody BUT University of Houston! It is frustrating!

I was at Berings Hardware Store this weekend and it annoyed the you-know-what out of me when I saw in the lawn section UT and A&M flags being displayed. I went to a salesperson and asked where the UH flag was and he said that UH has it copywrited and Berings was not able to sell it. I find that answer ridiculous, and almost asked him where he got his law degree, but I had better things to do than argue with the salesperson about the accuracy of his answer.

Should have asked for a manager. That’s a bull crap answer. UT & A&M also have similar copywrite or trademarks, they only require a license from manufacturers, not retailers. I would have called the salesperson out on that answer. That actually pisses me off.

What she could have been trying to say is the manufacturer of the flags works with CLC or Colegiate Licensing Company the oldest and largest licensing company that works with all but 3 of the power four schools. It makes it easier because they can submit 1 product sample and pay a smaller fee to add other school without submitting additional samples. Whereas UH is represented by Affinity Licensing. The only other power 4 schools Affinity Licensing represents are MSU and KSU.
Also for yall that don’t Facebook, they opened a new Rally House at Willowbrook across from Costco.

No, that isn’t what the clerk was trying to say. Most likely the flags they sell were from someone already licensed for UH like Wincraft.
UH was once handled by CLC and you would have gotten the same answer from the clerk about not being licensed to sell UH back then.

On a side note unrelated to the dumb hourly employee, you seem to be knowledgeable why and when did we leave CLC, to move over to Affinity, at least on their website they seem to take more pride in the fraternities they license than their collegiate properties. If it is not a licensing issue is it somehow Pezman’s fault we can’t get decent merch? I was hoping moving to the Big12 would get us a better selection but it still sucks. I am tired of buying secondhand coaches polos. Is there anything we can do to get better stuff?
On a second side note last order I placed from the bookstore for shipping took over 2 weeks to ship, and the order I place before that for store pickup took 1.5 weeks to even pull and it was 3 items.
