TDECU Stadium Renovations & Expansions

Mission Control is born.

In other words never based on our attendance history since inception

I mean the money for the expansion has to come from somewhere.

If we can’t make money at 40k, why would we spend money to expand?

all of yall seem to be forgetting us trying to fill up Robertson

Lol, are we going to change the name of the student section ever time we get a new stadium sponsor?

I think we should stick with one student section name and get some type of tradition going that will last for decades.

What’s unique about college sports, is tradition.

i know we aren’t there yet but man
how proud will we all be when we expand and finish that upper deck and make it a true horseshoe stadium
especially packed with a sea of red!

The move to the suburbs is due to the fact that most Texans and other people who move here like a single family home and the land just wasn’t there for inside the loop development. As the neighborhoods of many neighborhoods of the inner loop combined with a desire for more modern homes and the impetus for moving outward is there. I know white flight does have a large element, but not the main element.

Pardon the ignorance, but why are people at UCF gonna care about the stadium name at UH?

They claim to be Space U and wear space uniforms. They are always in the comments on Twitter anytime UH is mentioned with NASA or Space. With that said, they have a history of claiming titles no one else recognizes.

You are concerning yourself with the wrong thing. We have more than double the student enrollment as Baylor and we can’t fill up our stadium, which is roughly 5k smaller. Why would you want to expand just to move up in the stadium capacity list when it would be even emptier percentage wise?! I hope we are moving in the right direction. Current students have been showing up and I hope that love of Cougar athletics follows them after the graduate.

Forget expanding, we need to construct some shade or roofing for the stadium. There is a reason why the Texans and Astros have significantly higher attendance than UH because they have indoor stadiums/movable roofs. The experience watching a Texans/astros game is so much nicer. Houston is too hot, I’ve been to Kyle field and it feels cooler at that stadium. TDECU is an oven, unless you’re at the top, the wind breeze isn’t enough. If we added more shade more people would come. There’s a reason we sell out our club sections (hint it’s cooler!). Even other stadiums (like Baylor has a nice canopy to make it comfortable).

I mean UH only gets the casual fan when they are ranked and local news hypes them up

I think its more because Texans and Astros are internationally acclaimed, and doesnt require a bachelors degree to be an alumni

If they scheduled Alabama at 11 am it would be a sellout

High of 96 in CS on Saturday. High of 94 in Houston on Saturday. Baton rouge is comparable. Gainesville FL is a little cooler right now with 99% humidity. Orlando is high of 88 with 95% humidity on Saturday. High of 97 on Saturday in Austin.

More people attend pro sports because it’s pro sports. The Astros are one of the best teams in baseball the last 5 years or so but it wasn’t that long ago I was going to (L)Astros games for $7 because they sucked and no one went.

I have been to Kyle Field for every UH game, and after they remodeled and expanded, against Alabama. It is still hot a Hades in that oven.

Yeah, I wouldn’t characterize Kyle field as feeling “cooler” than any stadium, especially in the lower sections on the east side.

Yeah, the heat at Kyle Field has dang near killed me twice in the last 5 years. September games there are a no-go for me now.

The games I’ve seen at Kyle Field were all OVENS, with people crammed in there like sardines.
