Agreed but at week 5 it’s also time to be beyond complete and total ineptitude. Like even by accident at this point we should have more than 2 non-Rice touchdowns. There’s no reason any of the offensive staff should have jobs by Monday outside of we didn’t have enough GA’s and interns to cover for them.
Did you really expect the offense to be the worst our school has ever had?
Did you really expect them to regress week by week?
This is not “struggling” with the transition. This is complete failure by the offensive coaching staff on every imaginable level. They literally do everything poorly every game.
We’re the 2024 White Sox of college football.
And I don’t disagree with that either. Answers will have to be found on the offensive side of the ball and CWF gets compensated very well to figure that ish out. I am not going to lose sleep or upend my mental sanity over it. Not this year at least.
The most frustrating part is if this was a winnable game. Our defense played really well until the end after being on the field all night.
No, it wasn’t a winnable game. We don’t have an offense. At all.
And Willie had better start trying something different on offense before it starts to endanger our place in the Big 12.
If we get kicked out that’s it for our athletics department. We’ll be trapped playing Tulsa and Memphis forever. There won’t be a third chance in a major conference.
Now say it without crying!
Dude, we have been playing Memphis and Tulsa forever.
“kicked out” lol. Calm down. We aren’t at that dire point yet. We are not anywhere close to it. It sucks to suck but we can get good in a flash. That’s all it takes. Just hope it happens but not because we are in danger of getting kicked out. Everyone here wants to win. Period.
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times.
Every new coach gets ONE FREEBIE SUCKY SEASON: even Sampson got one.
Fritz is getting his.
Surprisingly our first redshirt is a defensive player. Not surprisingly it is Jalen Emery
Same. I had them winning 3 or 4 games this year. That’s not looking good right now. Everyone wants to “win now” but that’s not a realistic expectation. I will start assessing CWF next year.
This is it! We just want to see SOME progress on offense.
I could be wrong but wasn’t CWF Tulane’s OC last year? If so, why change that?
Edit: It was Slade Nagle. Not sure the story behind that but it would’ve been nice to bring him along.
After last night, I now have one leg hanging off the CWF bandwagon. Penalties go with the coach, multiple penalties on the same dude–my UH prof didn’t cover those words. --and to have a player just walk away from a coach that’s chewing him out for a fumble that was really dumb, well-----.
I think we are stuck with CWF for two more years if for no other reason than we dont have the money to buy him out.
In this day and age he needs to be hitting 6-7 wins next season. If he is not capable of doing that then he needs to hire someone that can help make that happen. Fritz is no spring chicken and he needs to start winning ASAP.
No he didn’t.
I was on campus from 2011-2016. Did camera work from 2015-2016…
Despite the name & pedigree as tOSU’s OC, Herman alone did not bring ppl in.
It wasnt until the game against Memphis (a ranked, undefeated team at the time) that ppl started showing up.
But the Memphis game was not a full stadium.
In fact, the AAC Championship Game against Temple was not a full stadium.
In 2016 is when ppl were fully behind the whole HTownTakeover marketing campaign, and that’s when the fervor was snuffed with an UH truck left abandoned at Hobby Airport. The rest is history.
Damm!!–there it is! I just knew I was in the wrong major at UH. Huge failure on UH’s part-never mentioning the major that allows you to get hired, fail for a few years, get fired, get paid millions upon leaving, then go to another school that pays big bucks and serve in a reduced capacity with no pressure, perhaps again get fired and get the big bucks, then on to the next school. Just my lousy luck!!!
Of course he gets this year, but I think there’s a difference between having a losing season and a 1 win season with 2 scoreless games (I know the season isn’t over but does anyone honestly think, looking at the schedule, that this team can win another game)?
There are worrying signs. I’m starting to think Fritz is in over his head.
Our defense looks incredible compared to the last few seasons so in my opinion we are in reality only half way away from playing really good football. The offense is obviously the half that is stopping us from winning and it has been a complete mess ever since the Spring game.
I was pleasantly surprised with the offensive line last night. There were more than a few times where Donovan had all day to throw and couldn’t find the open receiver which is a complete 180 from the season opener where Donovan was running for his life all day.
The offensive run game has also looked better at times this year compared to what we’ve had in recent years. This is a crazy stat the last two games we have combined for over 300 yards on ground without scoring a single point. We have also ran for at least 100 yards in 3 straight games. Since when have we been able to do that?
There’s not much we can do about the quarterback position this year but if this team can get the penalties under control and limit the turnovers then we’ll be in position to pull of a few upsets in conference because despite how bad our offense is a bunch of our drives are ending because of things we can control.
Everyone’s attention the rest of the year should be on supporting the program so that in the off-season we are looking to upgrade a few positions rather than having another max exodus of talent leave. Like Fritz says we need to recruit retain and develop.
