Quentin Grimes (Update: Houston)

Remember when he came over. Brimming with potential but green. He sure sorted it out along the way in Sampson’s program.

Also spotted him with the current team at the football game last night.

We saw him in Yeoman hall and I got a picture with him. Very gracious and a good dude.

Here’s a cool documentary I found of him that the Knicks made. It features Coach Sampson and UH.

Hope he gets a podcast invite at some point. Would love to get some untold UH stories.

Josh Christopher, drafted by the Rockets one spot ahead of Grimes, is currently not with a team. What a shame the Rockets were so inept.

Grimes ended up in a better situation with a better coach. Him being drafted to the Silas Rockets teams could have been terrible for his career.

but a counter to that, is the knicks and thibdeau have a worse reputation, he almost never plays young players … actual nba stars go there and ride the bench… kemba, drose, cam reddish…no other young player in the rotation, let alone starting, and they have a few good ones … if you are a young players hoping to play it would have been easier at Houston than NY… christopher was never getting any pt at NY with his style of play if it was switched… grimes in Houston we don’t know, but id like to think he would have found his way to major pt

Go back to the draft threads… I said it then and I say it now… Draft Grimes! Draft Grimes Damn It!!!

I really think Tilman didn’t want to step on Stone’s toes and seem like a homer by taking Grimes… Damn It!

But Grimes is getting major playing time in NY, starting quite a few games last season. I expect him to be going into the year as the starting 2 and a key culture player for Thibs.

Of course since Stone is the GM and head of the scouting department. Tillman is not making the picks and they took a talented player. Sometimes it just doesn’t work.

Even if he found his way to major playtime, he would have been playing on a bad team that lacked any structure. Grimes having a great playoffs performance last year gives him a good chance of not only making it to his next contract, but getting a lucrative deal out of it too. He also likely never would have gotten his Armani sponsorship playing in Houston.

Sure… But I’m having a hard time getting past that one…

Beautiful and-1 three. Grimes looking like a closer

We on this board knew something about Grimes that some scouts might not have known. Grimes left a lot of points on the table in favor of playing team ball. That game against Rice in Autry he could have scored 55 had he kept going to the hoop. Underrated offensive talent.

My favorite game when he was at UH was the game against Memphis in the AAC Tournament he just hit big shot after big shot he would not let us lose.
